whats going on, no bottom end power?

Postby thebeast. » September 1st, 2010, 7:13 pm

got a I6 el falcon with a cam, cold air intake and a full exhaust and it wont even do a skid...
got 235 on rear, but that should't make to much of a difference.
the falcon was dual fuel but isnt run on gas anymore...
any thoughts?

The gas ring is probly still in the intake, very good rear brake's and if it's lsd and a cam will take out some low down torque as will the exhaust.
and then a stock tune.

If you want to do a skid, have you tried bouncing the brake?

its not a magor thing not being able to do one, its not like I do them every second day or anything just thought id try one.
did one prob a yeah ago with stock wheels and without cam and exhaust and it did it fine, but nothing now.
you know, foot on brake, full acc abd it just stalls up to about 1900 and nothing.
tried bouning the brakes but nothing, only real way is full loock either direction slam acc down then stomp on brake.
by the way i dont normaly thrash the el, i was just curious. is this a normal falcon thing.
hope you like my life story lol

It's probably just knackered. Does it have blowby or use any oil?

If you want to know for sure do a compression test.

it's pretty much normal, doing cam and stuff makes auto 4Ls shit at skids, unless you do stall and/or diff gears.
stock is best.

most 4L are no good for skids due to the tall gearing
best best is to throw a set of 3.9's in the diff
my ED's been cammed, chipped and full exhaust and still wont spin the wheels off the line

About the only cams that will help an auto do a standstill are lpg or towing cams as you're pretty much on peak torque with them a few hundred rpm above the stock stally. Try it with stock 205s and see what happens.

Check ur acc cable first get a mate to WOT it and see if u can move the throttle more by hand at the throttle body end. If so get a new cable. Also do you have floor mat jammed up under the pedal like about 50% of my customers seem to have

If it's an EL have you had it on the dyno since putting the cam in? You can do a hobo 'tune' while it's on there by twisting the dizzy till it makes the most power, and you should also pick up a little economy too.

Yep, down between the 2nd and 3rd runners on an EB IIRC, and near the first one on an EL.

If i give my ed some curry, it blows blue oil smoke out everywhere, its got a gayer than aids BTR, only mods are 3.45:1 LSD and an exhaust and the motor in it is nearly rooted, it still skids.
