Harmonic Balancer. V8's run a 50oz imbalance, slipped balancer = vibrations = dead bearings

I've had a balancer go on my car. It's exactly what he has described. It will be balancer. Without a doubt

Engine mounts just bang and carry on but not have vibrations like he has described

I've had the balencer let go on a 5L too. Get a timing light and check the base timing to confirm it. Mine slipped by 42° IIRC... shook like a mofo!

I've no idea how to put the AU into self test mode, but a workshop manual will explain the process and give the figure of what the timing should be.

Not really, balancers aren't expensive, and aren't hard to change if you have a puller set.

Nah it's like driving a turbo motor untuned - you just get on it occasionally to check it hasn't fixed/tuned itself :D

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

well mine displayed same vibrations one day, had a look, everything seemed fine, took it mechanics, they couldn't find a fault either, till a few weeks of driving later,
thats what i was implying from the beginning, if his gotten to a point where its behaving that badly and his continued to drive it then, his probably got a bit more of a headache than a simple replacement.
