good shit
pity the engine bays in an XG looks like its still straight from the 60s lol
looks like 2jz would be of similar size to a 4l, if not a bit wider in the head.

i know plenty lol
to fit mine is exhaust manifold, engine and trans mounts, and custom plenum, bellhousing and converter.
i only have the 2jze with 110,000ks, but they have the same rods and similar strength pistons. it makes 169kw in standard form
i have a set of 2JZGTE pistons and rods to go in if need be, got the GT42 r GT40 to choose from and standard cams rev out to 6000rpm
it runs a distributor based ignition system, so ignition would be simple to do also.
but just not too sure if its worth the hassle really

Wait till you bust the 4.0.

+1 for wait till you bust the 4.0
Positive all the fun you have trying to break it. Also misk is it going to be as much fun when you bet a commodore v8 and are no longer powered by ford?

You should ditch one of those projects, nothing kills a project faster than a 2nd project...

yeah i know
i guess thats why this is coming to discussion
at the end of the day the EB is registered and all that, even thougt the body and paint arent the best, the VH is stripped ready for paint lol
the VH would run nines with the 2jz and GT42 even on LPG, the EB, obviously not so much lol
i would love to put the 42 on the 4l, but would need to build the engine and do the box, something i dont need to do with the 2jz and my glide as the 2jz will do 400rwkw day in day out and my glide will do at least 350rwkw everday.
id just be worried about losing down low torque in the 2jz cause the GT42 wouldnt do 20-25psi until 4500rpm, but standard 2jzge cams will rev out to 6000rpm standard...

$3k would see the 2jz in and running (bellhousing, converter etc)
should i bother?

Get the jz running in the eb. Run 9's then when you are famous finish off the vh.

before I went the boosted 4L option I was contemplating dropping in the 1UZ.... very sturdy engine, but in the end
I decided it would be too much hassle...

boost the 4L, get it running and enjoy while you build up the 2JZ, then drop it all in together.
run 10's

The VH sounds like it will need a ton of money to get it happening. Fk that.

1uz maybe a bit of a hassle, 2jz on LPG with the GE engine is like putting in a cross flow engine with a borg warner trans lol
it runs distributor based ignition and my glide is mechanical.
so can use a very simple ignition system and the rest is pretty basic shit

yeah, its just a shell that needs to be painted.

2jz doesnt need to be built...
standard springs and valves are good for 7500rpm and around 20psi
standard rods are good for low 9s in a cressida with forged pistons
and i have twin turbo pistons sitting around in case the n/a ones break

because u already have the 2j ready to go, go for it

but if i had a sohc 4l and 2jz both stock and needed to choose what one to build up for a falcon the 4l would be my option

yeah, so start piecing everything together

If you want to put the 2j into your falcon the, fuel lines and exhaust are on the same side in the supra and falcon, ei, exhaust on the drivers side, fuel on the left.

the VH is the VH commodore, an SLE at that.
still undecided.
i have a turbo for each ad really, changing ehxuast or fuel lines is hardly an issue.
i think ill turbo the EB and when it brakes whack i the 2jz

I thought 12 months ago about keeping my DC LTD. Then giving it some Toyota/LS goodness... Then i realised it was still going to be a glorified NA Fairlane and never worth anything to anyone down the track. And i couldn't justify 10-15k to do it semi properly.
Misk i guess it all depends how much you can do yourself and what you want out of it at the end?

iv seen a 2j in a hiace running straight gas. cool bit of gear.
my mate also has a courier with a 1g in it. does 12's i think. not bad for a work dunger. looks standard as too, no cop problems. :)
the japansese know how to build engines.

I say do it put it into a falcon man, dont be weak if you have it there ready to go......... Do it but make sure you have a daily to get around in 1st :p be different put it in, and i bet it will just about pass inspections too plus then you will have a mod plate for turbo, so you can boost the 4l if you get sick of toyota's GOD engine ;)
