anyone a qualified automotive engineer??

i was looking into automotive engineering as a possible career path after school, just wondering if anyone has done automotive or mechanical engineering and how there finding it?? i wouldnt imagine there'd be stacks of work the way the automotive industry's going at the moment?

I did mechanical engineering, and to be honest there isn't much of an industry in Australia anymore. Everything is going off to Asia.

Automotive engineering in particular is a niche because it is such a small field, yet just about everyone wants to do it; so the OEM manufacturers have the pick of who they want out of the Universities. So unless you are top of your class, its very difficult.

Although I do enjoy the design aspect of my job; I am working in the civil construction industry doing the mechanical design on commercial building louvre systems... its as boring as batshit!
