Resto finished! + private road celebration burnout :D

Yo,

Since Douglas couldn't help us finish off the buffing on the EF for a couple of weeks, I took the liberty of giving myself a crash course in buffing and with the help of Gill got the rest of the car done and put together over the weekend (including the installation of the Futura interior, which we unfortunately didn't get pictures of).

Anyway here it is in all it's glory. Just need to put up all the in between photos.

Don't reckon I did too badly considering the lack of experience in buffing, but the top panels need some more scratch and swirl removing as they're fairly webby and swirly under harsh light but overall it looks mint. We aim too high (especially with the budget and timeframe given to the project( but it doesn't hurt to do that, especially with results like the above.

I'm so glad this is finally finished! The results were definitely worth the time and effort that we put into this car though, looks even better in real life.

PS, needs TUFCAPS ASAP!

Yep - Gill can't take enough credit for this he helped put a staggering 160ish hours of labour in to the car, about 8 10 hour days each working on it. The time flies when you're self educating though. Doug's help and advice needs to be thanked as well, always there fkn around with me and stupid ideas :D

Spewing we didn't give the spraying a go ourselves, then we could say we did it all! Ah well, next time.

I'll also post up the inspirations for the looks of this car (sleeper style and red EF and sht) and the idea of doing up a EF.

Image
I was going to buy this ^^^^ The kent sold it on me. The clean paint and look of this car made me want a resprayed EF.

Image
I was going to buy this one too ^^^ I spoke to the previous owner only a day after he traded it in, trying to talk him out of dropping it off at the dealer. Eventually it came up on ebay and I wasted a full week fking around with the dealer who had it to the point where I got over it. Not only did they want $500 more than they bough it for (which is understandable) but they wanted to strip the car of the plates. It had a full respray and went like sex, the clean redness made me want a red one.

And finally, the sleeper look and the burnout shot - and last but not least the hubcaps I've nicknamed "tufcaps" because of their sleek tuff look. I also like the bonnet gauge look although the single one looks pox.

P.S Doug, Ash and you have all just copied me with having cool red Falcons. There is another trend with having red Falcons too. It's not a very cool one. :(

Whoa looks pretty mint!

That rear shot looks great, but you should've used a tripod for the camera.

Those hubcaps are the best.

I miss my old EL

It's got FR17's. The guy went fully nuts on it then was going to go on a working holiday to Croatia so needed to get rid of it. He'd modded it a fair bit then taken it back to close to standard. I gave him an offer of $6500 but then left the deposit till the next day - between my offer and my intended deposit time he got a better offer and I lost it :(

Yeah but it had a mint in and out 2 pack respray in the original colour. The paint was flat as off the gun, and he'd kept it garage for a year or so after the paint job and never touched it with a sponge. Looked immac, best EF I'd seen in a while.

No lol, I'm just saying that even if you had mint factory paint it wouldn't look as good as that car because it had better paint than what it wore out of the factory. It just had a look of it's own, and the wheels set it off!

I haven't even seen a decent picture of your car lol.

also note the front bar is now in primer and has been for months, i have 16in CSA gladiators with fats cos im a tufknt, and it hasnt been washed in 3 months. it also has a gear boot to save looking at that crap shifter

the XY sits in the shed, dead. needs alternator, carby kit, top loader linkages, new brakes and brake lines, paint and interior. And 500hp. And lowering. the dude that owned it before me had no teeth and a mullet, 80's stylez. (That may not be true)

Well we must have been eyeing off the same car for a while as i wanted to get it off the previous owner but had my hands tied as i was waiting on the outcome with the insurance company on the XR6, as soon as I had the word about my payout he had just traded it in. needforspeed said you had trouble with the sales guy, although they were okay with me cos I was willing to give them the price they wanted so that makes sense, made sure I got the plates! Cant beat a fresh respray looks mint as!

It's a great car man, enjoy it! I spoke to the previous owner literally hours after he said he'd traded it in, and he couldn't do anything about it. So when I saw it pop up on ebay and fail to meet the reserve I promptly asked which dealer it was at and went over for a gander. One of the dealer's turned out to be a guy I used to catch the bus to school with and he was alright, but when it came to the number crunching and the like his boss wouldn't come to the party reasonably. So I gave it up :(

It went pretty good but from my impressions should have gone a bit harder, and it blew a little bit too much black smoke at low revs. That probably indicates that it all just needs to be tied together by something like a Unichip and a good tune.

Anyways, as you can see I got over it and I'ma make my own version! It'll be quicker and sexier too ;)

Yeah the car yard didnt want to negotiate on price too much, gonna get the car into a workshop this week or next week to look at my tuning options to get everything working in harmony!

XR8TickfordBoy, is it just me or does it look "undertyred"? The profile on the NL rims looks a little on the low side.

I know the profile looks low in that photo for some reason. Theres plenty of profile on them their beefy ass tyres cant gutter rash them cos they hang over the side a bit so I think the previous owner went for max grip when he put tyres on them!
