ok so scraped the ba idea

i scored this conversion, i think its bargain.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWNX:IT

my auto is shagged and im over driving with no second and a slipping 4th so i figured i will bang this in for now and see how i like e series manual v8, once stroker is ready to go in with twin turbos if i break the box ill build a c10 down the track

now seeing as its an au conversion i think i will need. ECU, CROSS MEMBER, STARTER MOTOR and PEDAL BOX

i think tail shafts are the same auto/manunal?

any one shed some light on this, cheers

or would i be better off buying the au 2 5 speed conversion for 900 that bolts directly up

are au 5 speeds tremec? stronger then regular t5?

I think there was only a few AU's that got half decent 5 speeds, and i think they were 220kw ones or T-series.

Pretty sure its not a matter of just swapping bellhousings with those BA boxes either.
they had an integrated bellhousing.

yeah i did some reading, apparently the t series and series 3 220s had a stronger version, other au v8s were still a tremec t5 but its virtually the same, not much stronger

cool cool ill do some research on ba manuals

rollin say no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! them ba 5 speeds are hopeless boxe`s there piles of crap there 30x weaker then tremec t56 i work for driveline services mackay and we dont even bother fixing em coz there fucken hopeles gearboxs and the parts are woth more then the gearbox so when them gearboxes fail we just order in a new 1 coz there more expensive 2 fix then what there worth brand new

theyre are a tr3650 or something arent they?
get the au t5 conversion man no matter what factory 5 speed box u put in it with a twin turbo 347 ur gonna break it.
then save for a tko or t56.
cheers josh.

just stirring lol

If its a T5 then don't bother.. i think the tr3650 should be a bit stronger than a t5 but with all the hassles to make it fit it might not even be worth it.
Could try looking at a few modded BA xr8's and see how much power they have when they bust the 5 speed :)
A t56 would be ideal but they aren't cheap.. go auto!

haha yeah i knoe parfrey

i think that seems to be the case, most 5 speeds cant handle that sort of power,

750 is a thrid of the way to a tough c4,

But factor in a good clutch, stuff to make the box fit and the box itself... then you won't be too far from tuff auto $$$
And then when the box breaks your up to auto money haha

AU box is longer. Floorpan needs chopping, tailshaft needs shortening. Have fun!
