Postby waynesworld66 » December 2nd, 2010, 11:44 pm

hi all i have an el 300k on it and its surging gutless and generating enough heat under the bonnet that it has split 2 brake boosters this week temp gauge runs hot but not boiling and fuel consumption is about the same as a b double you cant drive it in power mode its auto as it cant work out what gear to use but in economy it changes ok not properly but ok when you get to 100k if you are are very gentle on the throttle it nearly runs properly any ideas

hey fellas i replaced the booster map sensor fitted a heat shield flushed out the radiator and replaced the bottom radiator hose even a new rad cap checked it over for split vac hoses etc everywhere it stopped the really bad surging still went like a slug give it a new air filter about the same not getting as hot so i hooked up the car trailer (it was night and had a couple of motors on it) and headed off to greta nsw from shep it was still a slug but doin the job by the time i went through syd the trailer was mt it was day and she was gettin hot so when we got to greta put the el on the trailer behind the unreg holden i bought went to woy woy to pick up a vw took the el off and me mate drove it followin me with the trailer it was still sluggy but doin ok on the heat side puled up in gundagai and the idler pully just started to squek as it idled at the pumps and then just fell off so its still there apart from gettin a new pully any more ideas its got a new thermostat and i cleaned the rad with the pressure washer before i left

Yes, TIMING!!!!!!!! Check the balancer hasn't slipped before you check the timing too.

After that, check the cat.

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

thanks everyone its been a while but the el is all good, picked her up took her home another booster as the last one was leaking a new tensioner and a radiator checked the timing (it was retarded) it was also down a little tranny fluid and now its running as it should.
