Nice pics! The big news is the overdue diesel at last. The Falcon needs it too. All the talk of 9.9 L/100 km is well and good, until you see the Mercedes E220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY achieving 5.9! Time to wake up, Ford.

No, but a TDi one making as much power as the current turbo motor I hear.

According to Drive.

But the big news for the updated new Territory is the arrival of a much anticipated new turbo diesel engine. The Land Rover-sourced 2.7-litre V6 is expected to significantly improve efficiency, addressing one of the Territory’s main criticisms – relatively high fuel use from the Falcon-sourced 4.0-litre six-cylinder, which will continue in updated form.

The 2.7-litre diesel is expected to produce close to the 140kW and 445Nm available in the Land Rover Discovery that used the same engine. While its power will be less than the 4.0-litre six-cylinder (currently 190kW), its torque promises to make it the more logical choice for buyers looking to tow or reduce their fuel bills.

I just hope reliability levels are better than Land Rover.

we've had one in at work for the last few days, putting roll cages in one so ford can test them. its got padded bras and crap all over it, so its hard to get a good idea of how it looks, but it looks very similar to the photo john posted, just not as...err...aggressive.

bonnet, head lights and grille with the badge are spot on, but from there down is quite different. wheel arches arent as high as johns photo. the model we have in doesnt have the indicators in the rear view mirrors but the sheels look very much like VZ SS wheels.

It will do substantially better than 9.9L/100 ;-)

Still fugly I reckon.

The concept pic looks great, but all the angles are relaxed in reality because its just an update.

Will never look as good as from factory as the drawing, if ford are going to run small wheels on them. So budget. The cx9s come std with 20's so I cant see why the territories shouldnt.

'tis quite a minor facelift really, just a headlight/taillight/bumper job. I would have thought the Territory would have been immensely profitable so I'm sure they will give it a serious update at some stage. The TD is still big news though, I can't think of any other TD Australian car in history.

It's got new bonnet, guards, and rear quarters. It doesn't look like much but that's a lot of tooling work.

i reckon these are f*ck ugly personally
too much of a 'euro' sort of look to the front, and as said it doesnt translate to the rest of the body, just looks slapped on the front to me

the problem is that the middle of its looking dated.

Ford is going for a global image as you would all know. So falcon, Terri, mondeo, focus, and fiesta all have to look alike.

Ever towed a caravan around Australia on 20's?
Ever driven up a gutter or over a median strip on 20's?
Driven to the Flinders Ranges on 20's?

The Territory needs to do all that stuff and not break. If someone wants 20's or 22's they will put them on later.
The CX9 is a glorified Mazda 6 with a high seating position for Soccer Mums.

My comment has been misunderstood so I will clarify. Of course a different tail light shape means different quarter panels and such. It still classes as a mere facelift (perhaps 'minor' was too strong a word though) because the expensive panels to rework (the most expensive panels to substantially change are the doors) remain completely untouched.

My definition of a serious rework is BF-FG, VZ-VE et cetera.

i recently bought one of the last, brand new Turbo Territory Ghias - kills the sprint

I'm not disappointed that i didn't wait for the new one + the I6T will be twice as quick as the cummins powered T

It will use twice the fuel too, thus the TD's relevance in the market. Congrats on the purchase though, would be a fine machine.
