( dad is a big N/A fan old school being kinda dude dad knowes a guy with a 13 second 4L N/a ef and my grandad had a 13 second 250x flow cortina )

well i mensioned 2 dad last night about selling my n/a cam and getting a porper turbo kit and saving up 2 turbo the car well my dad went off telling me turboing the the shoc 4L is a waste of money and time and that with a decently build N/A motor it go plenty hard anuff he said id never be able 2 run consistant passes out the drags (dad has a phobia of turbo cars! )

what should i do guys? sugestsions have guys ov the had trouble with Old school players hating on turboed cars let me know ? how did u guy speek to them how did u handel the situation ?

you might get two inconsistent passes from an e series turbo, but both of them will still be faster than a n/a 4.0l

my dad wasnt overly keen on me going overboard on my EF, told me not to go too low as i'd need to lip the guards, not to go too wide with tyres are it'll have wet weather issues.
he's not a stupid man and knows how to build pretty much anything, but i did it my own way.

he's still impressed with what it does even though he didnt approve of it in the first place.

i'd say do what you want, then show him the end result.

so...your dad and a couple of his mates dont like turbo's. therefore the whole older generation don't like them?
my dad basically said that he doesnt like the idea of me modifying my car but he knows ill do it either way, so if im gunna do it that i may aswell go all out and turbo it and all, so it definitely doesn't apply to the "old school generation"

My Dad has always been the same, V8 this V8 that, rice burner shit turbo crap etc etc, now I'll be the first to admit he has owned some reasonably quick N/A Cars in his time, but Turbo's were new teritory back then, so the way I see it, they confuse and/or scare him.

So, let me get this straight, in order to beat a 6, the V8 needs 1 more Litre of Capacity, a 2nd turbo, and more boost?

on a more serious note... I had the same issues with my dad when i wanted to do things to my car, like putting ghia seats in, i still put them in and after all his bitching about why i shouldn't do it, i put them in anyway and he actually liked them.

Back when he was a kid he didn't care what the car looked like just as long as it went fast, it's just a different perspective/attitude on what should be done to a car i guess.

My Dad always said spending $$ on cars is a waste of money bla bla even though he did it back in the day! If I told him I spent a few k on turboing my EB, he woulnt have been impressed. I just did it. He didnt even know for a bit. Told him I was trialling a kit for Paul/CVE at first to get around it.

Took Dad for a drive and he loved it. (Apart from the pink!) Think he was more weirded out by his 'little girl' being into cars. Lol. Mum's never been into cars. I drank too much at a party once and she had to drive my car home. Was funny teaching her to dose driving thru Frankston, she loved it too.

Your money, do what you want. My parents always brought me up to save $$ for house/future. I ended up with turbo eb and house so they never complained :)

End of my life story, back to you!

When I got the BA my old man said just leave it don't bother ruining a nice car.
I then slammed it, took the spoiler off and done engine mods. Took him about a month before he would get in the car with because he didn't wanna look like a hoon. When he finnaly did he loved it. Any chance he got he would drive it lol.

the pont is jay seriously believes 6 cylinders are faster then v8s on any scale

and i disagree

i never once doubted that stock 5 litres are buckets of shit and that boosted 6's go good for the price

but i can garuntee you with an unlimited budget a windsor v8 will make more power and go faster then a 6 cylinder simply due to more cylinders and cubic inches
