Engineers certificate on the cheap??

A mate just got done last weekend driving his vt clubsport on his p's, cops opened the bonnet and found the 2.4L whipple charger he has just spent 11grand putting on. As well as a defect for other things, the cops gave him an EPA notice for the charger. Have been told an easier way to get around it (instead of pulling everything off) is if he can get an engineers certificate for the charger. So kind of seeing if people can give any suggestions or know anybody that might be able to help out. Cheers.

I thought so, apparently it will cost bout $2,500 to get the certificate done, but was told to ask round coz sum1 mite know sum1 and all that but fair enough

if it cost 11 grand to put on why not pay the extra 2500 and just enjoy driving it without stressing

i cant imagine it would even be that cheap.
there is a reason 99.9% of people dont get engineered

Coz he took a loan out to pay for the charger so he got no money left haha. The choice was for the shop that fitted it to take it off, fit all n/a parts, which he still has, take computa with the tune out and put a stock computer in, get it roadworthy, get epa check done then worry bout puttin it back together.
Yeah mate we in Vic, the harshest state on car laws isn't it?? Haha so you rekon it would be very hard to get it engineered??

usually when the word 'engineers' and 'cheap' are in a sentence, the is 'are not' between them.

Do you honestly thin 99% of modified cars are not engineered.

Converting a top mount setup back to standard isn't too hard, could knock it off in a day easy if you have the parts on standby.

Yeah we were told that by the workshop that had fitted the charger, just wanted to see if there was another avenue so didn't have to unbolt and de-tune the motor but all sweet

Given he is on his P's driving a V8 let alone a blown one, he is lucky he didnt lose the car to the impound for a lengthy period, as the law states, P platers are not allowed to drive V8, Turbo or Supercharged vehicles, although there are exclusions for early V8s with low power to weight ratio (70s/80s model vehicles).

hunt around you may find an engineer depending on whats local to you that can do these things without excessive expense but nothing is guaranteed

Cheers for the advice mate, but he has gone with just taking it off and puttin it all back on later. Yeah alot of people who heard bout it were bit stunned the car wasn't taken but he's willing to take the risk of keeping getting stuffd round by cops and EPA so what can you do...
