Just wanted to know if you have to present your car when you go to vic roads even after getting a roadworthy

im sure you do.
with a minor you have to. i'd be presuming it would be the same for a major apart from the rwc that needs to be current..
pm kyle. he had to clear one recently and may know what the go is for a major

if you go to the big busy vic roads (ie: oakleigh, frankston or dandenong) all you need to do is provide the rwc cert and the canary. And thats it. Soemtimes you MIGHT get asked for them to see your car, but you just say you didnt bring it as you 'cant drive it till the canary is autherised to be removed'. And if they say no to completing the transaction, say you will come back again tomorrow (which you wont) and just try another vic roads.

depends what person you have, what time of day and how busy, best time to rock up is at like quarter to 4, show them the RWC certificate and the defect notice the cops wrote out and they will prob just clear it without being assed to go out and see the car

My canary on my ute was a minor but they would not remove it till seen ,,, so had to take it back but then again no rwc was required so guess that was their reason being only a minor...

the only correct answer in the thread was from a queenslander..

it says on the defect slip if the car has to be inspected by vicroads...
major / minor or rwc needed makes no difference...

Of the 4 defects I've had, I've had my car inspected everytime!

When I got mine done on my car, I went to Dandenong at about 8-10am in the morning, they gave me a scraper and told me to go out and get the defect off myself. Also had an engine number change at the same time.

its usually only on certain items.
ie. too low, too loud etc.
and its at the discretion of the vicroads office.
i called bullshit to the lady at the counter and said it clearly states if the defect is no longer on the windscreen of the vehicle (damn thing just 'fell' off) then there is no need for it to be presented at the office.

i also usually wait a day or two after my rego is suspended using that as another excuse and reason to say if this paper says its roadworthy, its roadworthy.

argue it to the death, but the busier the place the stupider the people and more in a rush they are, like the guys that never noticed the engine number on my block was different to the one on the roadworthy or previous record when re-regoing the EB

you can still drive it after, but only to a repairer or to vicroads to get it cleared

Unless we went at the wrong time, our cars got checked at Frankston, was busy too. The EB got done for ride height so I pulled sub, spare etc out of the boot and pumped the tyres up. It didn't quite pass so pumped tyres up more and went back next day and passed. No spring change ftw :D (and not getting done for turbo ;) )
