A HOON has shocked police after he was nabbed driving an unregistered car at speeds up to 175km/h in heavy rain last night.
The 20-year-old Ferntree Gully man was seen by police speeding up to 75km/h over the limit along the Monash Freeway about 10.25pm.
Police first spotted the man’s Ford Fairmont sedan between Forster Rd, Mt Waverley, and Tooronga Rd, Malvern.
A police spokesperson said the man, who had a 17-year-old female passenger on board, was travelling at speeds in excess of 150km/h when first seen.
She said the man’s speeds varied despite the hail and extremely wet and slippery conditions.
The P-plater, who was on a 12 months demerit bond, had his vehicle impounded.
He is expected to be charged with several driving offences.
