Xg wont rev past 4,300rpm

I put a pod filter on my ute and then a week or so later it wouldnt rev. It just like stops at 4,300rpm and its struggles from around 3,300 onwards. Its like something is blocked. I thought it was sucking in too much hot air or something. So i put my standard air box back in. But its still not reving.

Check and make sure your cat isn't blocked exact same thing happen to mine and it was be cause the cat was blocked,and is your XG manual?? let us know how ya go cause there are several other things it could be.

yes sounds like a restriction in the exhaust. does it miss and fart around trying to get up there?

Yeah its a manual. I have noticed the cat has been making a louder noise. Like theres stuff in there. It used to only do it when it was cold. My mate was driving behind me last night and he said that it smelt.

No it doesnt miss. Just is restricted and wont go anymore.

well drop the exhaust off at before the cat and take it for a quick (quick) drive. if it fixes the problem it will be ur cat.. could be broken up inside.. hav had this problem.. new cat should be around 2fitty installed or so.. dont bother with high flow..or anything

Definitely gotta be cat..
My fairlane did the same thing..
I dropped the exhaust at the manifold and took it for a drive..
Perfect..!!

Gutted the cat and went on driving as normal..

if you gut it, put a straight pipe through it, but thats a whole lot of cbf

Agree don't gut the cat, ya can pick up hi-flow cats pretty cheap

hahaha yes i ran the 'busted arsehole' spec cat for a while.. dont bother.. iv got a venom highflow (not that u need a highflow) on my xr6t cost 190bucks for 4inch on ebay.. seems good value. problem solved. good luck bud
