thinking about buying a car in qld and driving it down to vic.

whats the deal with unregistered vehicle permits to do this

do i need one for qld, nsw and vic?

You dont need a vic permit. It says so on the website. I read it today.

I guess you just need a qld one.

what u dont need a unrego permit for driving it in vic?
dam i didnt know that i thought ud have to get one in every state.

Interstate use
You can drive interstate with an Unregistered Vehicle Permit if this condition is specified on your permit.

You do not need a permit from VicRoads if your journey starts interstate and finishes in Victoria. Check with your local vehicle registration authority if you need an interstate permit before you drive.

Call Vicroads and find out just incase. The fine for unreg is now $611

I drove a car from Sydney to Brisbane with a permit, and the car had no plates. Never got pulled over, and I did drive past cop cars. I'd admit, I did pucker a little, especially when a NSW RTA vehicle was following me.

yeh i was suprised when i picked up car from melb and even cops around me didnt bother pulling me over.

probably not going to get this car from qld
