depends on whos asking the question, and the nature of the question.

if its something that could be answered with a simple search, then its on.

Poll updated so it isn't one sided.

Also I think you will find this place WILL turn into aff if we aren't allowed to give people shit when they ask dumb questions.

I'm pretty sick of the kids that have no spelling and grammar skills.

I think that whoever doesn't use paragraphs should be banned. I really cannot be fucked answering any questions if i'm going to have a brain haemorrhage reading the question.

If we are wanting to the club to get bigger and more successful and more noticed as a serious club. Flaming new blokes like that is probably not the way to go about it.

Newbies seeing that would be deterred away from posting about their car and planned mods for the chance of being bagged out about it.

I'm all for a laugh/payout now and then between 'older' members but you gotta go easy on the newbies.
There will always be stupid questions and crap ideas posted, can't help that. It's an internet based forum based on $200 e-series falcons after all.

The young blokes that are passionate will hang about and grow up. Time wasters will fizzle away.

fuckwits like killer_ef need a warning, then flaming/banning if they continue. They just bring the forums down. Killer_ef is clearly trolling.

Newbies in general should be looked after, but fuckwittedry should be strongly discouraged.

Im just more thinking the fact the creating a better enviroment and taking care of newbies rather then bagging the out. Creating it will encourage people to join, get a good word out there for the club and get more people involved in shows cruises and meets.

There's 450+ Build threads.

We should have more the 30 cars for next weekend.

There is the 'noob questions' thread, people seem to get answers pretty quickly on there without smartass comments.

People posting tech questions in the general discussion area, or panel questions in the 6cyl section are fail.

Out of curiosity, how many cars are usually at Vic AFF meets?
I'm all for expanding the club and junk, but not if it's going to become full of fucktards in their $300 shitboxes expecting instant answers about simple questions that have been answered in great detail in another thread.

pay out on stupid questions, if they didnt search thats their fault. A newbie will either pull their head in, have a cry and go away or be banned. You learn alot more with a search anyway.
Another note, month ban for bad grammer?

i reckon it`s a good idea, one of the reasons i have less than 5 posts is that i have always searched for what i`ve been looking for.
unfortunately sometimes you do have to sort through a lot of smartass posts to find the answer your after, but that does happen on any site.

Why does his thread even exist? You want a 100% serious club? Join a paid members only club.

I get grilled for looking an arab, my car being a double colour fvck box and not knowing when I'm too loud. WHO FVCKING CARES!

So fvcking over people who decide there should be some moral high ground, how about you throw the soap box in the fire and send ya fvcking moral high horse to the glue factory.

Ban me, love me, ignore me... I don't care, I come along, have a laugh, a drink, then go home. No skin off my sack.

Im all for a free forum and inviting anyone in, but I REALLY cbf reading some of the dribble/novels people write without hitting the enter key and starting a new line.

My thoughts exactly.

I know I'm one to post the link to the search page when someone asks a simple question, but I do a search myself first, just to check the question has been answered, partly so I can be a smartass too :P
It doesn't help that people can't spell for shit, or don't know how to search for something. I learnt both of those things by the age of 13, what do they teach in school nowdays?

I'm predicting that it will only get worse in the future as XR6Ts get cheaper, and more dumbshits buy thrashed out 300,000km examples then stumble across this forum asking if disconnecting the wastegate line is the best way to make more boost or something.

Let me apologize for not making this thread clear...

It's not about making this forum 100% serious and I know that we can get the scum from the bottom of the barrel sometimes...

But my point is, we now have some big names joining the club eg; members from the Street Fords Magazine and members from other reputable establishments, so having members who slag and "flame" others, in build threads and in the "General Admin" area is not on. Don't you think it would be better for the club, if such crap was kept in a "Private - Get things off your chest" section? That's how some U.S. forums work. And they've been operating a lot longer and have a lot more members than a few of the Aus forums combined. I would rather be part of a club that helps out the average Joe, not matter how stupid the question/modification might be, than be like some of the members from the ORSM reach-arounds who think they're better than everybody else and not give the little guy a time of day.

I only joined this forum a few years ago, and between then and now, I've seen more than a fair share of drop kicks asking the same question over and over again. I did a lot of searching, but the response "go search for it" sometimes doesn't always provide a good enough solution. Here's a thought... Why not start things off with a proper "Welcome" email.
Here's one example from one of the other forums I'm a member of that i have altered.

The mere fact that the rules and terms are given to everyone when they sign up, they wouldn't have an excuse if they were temporarily banned for typing like "Snookie" on crack!

At the end of the day, I know we all come on here to have a look at someone else's work, have a bit of a laugh and even learn or share our ideas and experiences.

im with Kosta on this. I like the idea of the welcome email. I think a general rundown of what the site has to offer with the forum rules/ettiquet(?) and even tips on how to use the search function (ie trying different word combinations) would benefit new members.
I think its all fair that some of you dont give a **** and just want to stir shit and have a laugh (thats a large part of why i decided to join and be active at boosted), but there are times when comments become exessivly abusive.

If you're a genuine drop kick in life, would you read a welcome email?

There's threads everywhere saying everything a welcome email could tell you but no one reads it.
What's the point of a welcome email if people can't read a thread in capitals stuck to the top of a page.
Why not some simple info like below on pages?
