Boosted Falcon

Seeking replies of fact and/or oppinion on this old falcon theory.

When I bought my first car (AU Falcon S1) an appealing factor was the old 'they run forever, and the taxis overclock the odo.'

Does the faithful falcon really seem to just keep going? Obviously it requires servicing like any other car but is engine durability above average like everyone seems to say. Is there a reason why all taxis are generally Falcons?

Yeah, makes sense. Whats the finite lifespan of the intech 4.0, anyone sitting on like 800,000km and still going strong?

i'm sure theres been some that have gone around the clock, but a taxi motor has a very different life to that of a private use engine.
but with motors as cheap as they are, it wouldn't be the highest concern.

Taxi's last so long beacause they are always warm so there is less engine wear.

yeah, my dad said the same. I dread the day my auto starts slipping or something since im only 19..money and what not.

just keep the fluid in good condition, let it warm up a bit before belting the crap out of it, give it a service once every 20k or so.

i've got 4 BTR equipped cars, and none of them have had the trans swapped.

Too many variables involved in trying to predict the lifespan of components. Only things you can do is proper servicing as said above, and I recommend saving a bit each week for future car expenses - ideally having as much as a few grand available for a rainy day.

hey the motors to last aslo as you maintain them everynow and then i dont mean go all out but service it every 10k atleast and the tran atleast 25k and what i do to keep the trany nice and smooth remove the pan and filter and poor oil down the dip stick to flush it out dont have to every time but when to oil is heaps dirty its good to do it but with the motors running them cold is the killer and on lpg too long drys the valve seals etc
