URGENT RESPONSE NEEDED: AU HEAD GASKET QUERY

Car is at the mechanics now getting head gasket replaced..... I asked them to use an AU MLS gasket on it as everyone says to do. We had to get it ordered in from FORD.

Its an XH XR6, and a 97 model. Engine has done 177k if relevant.

He's just rung me to tell me the AU gasket has less water jacket holes, and will basically block all the water jacket passages along the exhaust side of the engine... I've not seen the gasket personally.

Does this sound right, or have we got the wrong gasket or something? Will i have overheating problems using this gasket?

Need an urgent response, need car finished up this afternoon.

He said he's happy to install it for me, but he has never personally heard of this as a remedy to the 4.0l head gasket problems.

You won't have any problems at all, just tell him to fit it as is.

They are designed that way to try and control coolant flow to even out the temperature of the head.
