Apparently was running with a stock setup, but then added more poke and never finished it, a mates dad just bought it and they're stripping it for the motor/box and bolt ons,

How different are xg crossmembers to ea/b/d ones?

I think it depends on the year, as I believe some early XGs still had 4.1s in them, but there is sure to be a way to mount a 4l in there.

they were still officially called XF's but went right through to 93... XG started with the intro of the 4litre into EB2

I was thinking more like persuade to be sold crossmember + mounts and swap into box car, for more j motor e series :)

See if the cross member is modded, if it's only the engine mounts that are modded they are the same as xe-ed.

Also, I don't know why you would bother.

The hassle and stuff around of getting a 1j to work properly in an e series it would be way easier just to turbo the 4L.

1j >>>> non forged 4l

end of discussion... if the motor is cheap and you can do the fab work yourself why the **** not...

ive seen a sr20 into a r32... most people would say thats pointless but im sure there was a valid reason

That's cause an sr20 has more torque then an rb20.

No matty sr into 32 is done for better weight distribution and more nimble handling, 2 less cyl over the front wheels has got to be an improvement in anyones books lol, specially if it deletes an rb20

It also has more torque. Look up the specs lol. Same capacity and 2 less cylinders is why it makes more torque.

From what I could see, the fabrication and fitment of the engine etc looked fairly simple, but the wiring was a mess! It ran for a few years with a stock 1j, twins, c4 with dellow bellhousing, pretty much tried building a racey quick streeter, never got finished, and we picked it up at a great price, with many goodies, stripped the ute got rid of it, the motor will power our new BB/HR drag car. :drinks2:
