A basic spelling and grammar test when joining up? I'm more than happy to help noobs, but I don't want my brain to explode trying to read their dribble.

Agreed.
More tutorial workshops to help the less experienced

Maybe a link on the home page in big letters to a page that new members should read so they know what to expect, and can't justify complaining about something they should already know about. Including that existing members get frustrated when posts aren't run through a spell-checker. Maybe suggest using Chrome or Firefox. Something like:

New to BoostedFalcon? Read this first...

Also a forum within Off Topic where shitstir threads can be moved after going downhill for future 'reference' haha.

Tutorials would be cool, when my cai arrives I can do a write up if you guys like. It is a easy mod but like you said its for less experienced.

more club involvement from senior members.
I'd like to see more moderation, only in regards to threads being moved to the right section to tidy the place up a bit.
More tech articles would be a good idea too, maybe get the boosted wiki built up? Many of the articles could be copy/pasted from threads, so we don't have to remember certain keywords to search for a thread.

problem is alot of the 'senior members' may have moved on in life and dont have much time for car clubs/cruises.
we know from experience your priorities change when you have your own family.

i do agree. some peoples spelling and short hand sucks.
maybe also be a bit more helpful to the less inexperienced people who are here to learn things and ask for help.

I can only think of more tech articles. What other features could possibly be added on here? And maybe more western suburb meets... :P

Moderation maturity!

viewtopic.php?f=41&p=413290#p413290

Outside people joining up and seeing this as the most active thread and seeing how it started and a mod turned it into the shit that has eventuated.
They wont be around for long.

The thread went to shit well before I changed the thread title. Outside people that read that thread would laugh at it like most who posted in it.

You'd think this club was for maseratis or something they way you and your mate Wayne carry on.

Im happy to be demoderated if everyone thinks that will make a difference and attract more members.

Just let the forum decide who replaces me.

i totally agree with Shaun . and not just because it happened to me. see how i stopped posting and it still carries on. a mature mod would just lock it. or delete it.

also maybe some out of town meets. to hmmmm Bendigo maybe :P

There are a number of Ford based forums that anyone (unless your banned) have access to. I choose to "hang out" here because of the relaxed moderators attitude compared to other sensitive or sponsor biased sites. If I need info I usually search here and if I don't find what I'm looking for then search fordmods and last resort AFF.

As long as this site can take a joke and not become "family friendly" in the way that sensor everything just because a 5 year old could be reading, then its uniqueness will make it stand out.

Oh maybe you guys could do longer distance cruises north to meet other northern based members. Just sayin

Edit: as long as a thread can entertain people the it should never be locked.

Also if you werent unbanned it wouldn't have happened....

Plus we hardly ever lock or delete threads like that. Why would we start now?

Less sub-forums for builds.

I don't see the point to having Introduction, Show room, Builds and Elite builds. I'm sure a lot of threads get missed because things aren't centralised.

There's threads in the Introduction section that are 5+ pages long.

yeh some of the intros tend to turn into build threads
same with show room threads

Perhaps merge Showroom and In the build?
Bit more keeping track of the Introduction Forum?

Less forum nazi's. People who are dicks need to be told that they are.
But in saying that definatley wouldn't look good from a new members perspective, if the same people are getting a hiding from other members, so maybe less shit hanging.
As others have said definatley some sort of spell check for new members on sign up.

On the subject of sub-forums, what's the go with the 'cars currently wrecking' one? Worth making that accessible for everyone wrecking cars to move some of the threads out of the for sale section?

Agreed, we should be encouraging and pointing them in the right direction even if you aren't a fan of their car.

Less moderation. Over moderation is the main problem with the other forums. How many moderators do we really need?

Pwaa 26 posts and no hating on Sundeep. Feeling the love. I see Dan copped it though.

I think Intro, Showroom and Build could be merged in to one. Keep the Elite builds though. Good suggestion there from Ash.

sunny you've disappeared and probly drive a camry now, we lost interest in you :p haha

i think the mods here do a fantastic job. they ban when required and for valid reasons and also step in to delete threads in the same respect. sometimes we do go over the top with shitcanning ****, but the mods also do well with keeping that on the funny side of immature shit haha.

we are all here because the other ford forums are fuckin shit. the club here has a great sense of humor, even if we do have a crack at each other a few times (yes that even includes people who have been here for a while).
its sad that some tech threads turn to shit because people have strong opinions on this matter, but that is not specific to this site, or us.

there is links to rules and and what for the forums all over the shop and the mods do warn about this even before banning or deleting. many other forums don't do this.

i could only suggest a bit of a tidy up in regards to thread locations and what not - thats it!
some more meets would be great, perhaps not the standard mini meets that are currently doing the rounds, but i dont think this is specifically a moderators duty.

i feel the mods don't have the time or resources or need to push out tech articles when there is so much fucking info on google already which points to multiple forums including this.
it would be great for some members to spend some time compiling links in a thread for certain subjects as has been done before, but i reckon thats all thats needed. we really do a good job on answering questions in a thorough way when required and we have alot of fun.

wasn't there a chat room thing on here a while ago? or was that somwhere else? lol. that could be cool.

i quite like this forum, the people and the way its run already.

do you feel its time for some changes john? im curious as to what prompted you to start this thread.

Another thread earlier on the topic (which seems to be gone now) brought it up.

This happens every six months or so when certain people feel the need to have a sook about the club direction/structure.

Ban WILDEB again? :P

On a serious note i like what caliasturbo.com.au have done. Have a Feature Cars section for the nicer cars on the forum,Get someone handy with a camera and take some photos and one of the mods do a write up on the car. Just a thought.
Cant realy fault the site though,Mods are doing a great job imo.

I dont think we need to split the Intro/Build/Showroom up, just move the thread when an Intro gets too big as we see fit or prompted by the member.

When they sign up, just a message with a rundown of the areas would be good enough I reckon.

Bagging new members isnt really on, a few of them ask me questions in person because they dont want to get flamed on here which I think is wrong.

Kristy, did Sunny, Dan or Dave have kids? :P You and John are at pretty much every event!

It didnt start with a direction/structure change, just how it looks from an EVENT sponsor point of view, not a FORUM sponsor..

No offense but there are thousands of other things I'd rather do with my weekends than drive aimlessly to a few random car parks. I'd be keen if i was still a student but I'm not.

It's safe to say John cares a lot more.

I'm fairly confident that the sponsors give no **** about the forum content. If they do, **** them off.

Also fairly confident that creating a storm in a teacup is a good way to liven up an otherwise dull tuesday.

More trolls?

Apart from that I wouldn't change much. All the forums I've been floating around for the past decade usually end up over moderated and shit. Admittedly most were Holden forums, but still the humour and relaxed attitude here is rare and it's how I like it. I ask noob questions and half expect to get flamed, but I do also get the answer. It's exactly how it would be with my mates. If someone can't handle it then so be it, they can go to AFF, FM or streetfords.

Boostedfalcon is like a close-knit community of like minded funny kents who mod their cars and laugh knowing full well that most look down on e-series falcons. But who cares what others think.
FM & AFF are great resource sites, but aren't as much fun.

I agree with basic spelling & grammar tests

Looking at the number of posts & views in Dans build thread, I would have thought its pretty obvious why he's here.

Dunno about everyone else but I'd rather read an interesting build thread than stand in a carpark full of stockers with fake FPV wheels.

Anyway, Dan, Sunny and John get the prestigious title of founding member. They get to torture the retards that break rule #1. Its in the bible &shit.

I reckon LTDHO, Phatel, Ebbarbie & EBGLT etc should all start their own car club where they can set the rules in a constitution & bill of rights, register it with whoever looks after car clubs, get public liability insurance, give themselves fancy titles and moderate a forum the way they want so that no-one ever gets their feelings hurt. People will flock to that shit.
