Who said E series never makes cover? ;)

Many thanks to EFFalcon for allowing me to post this.

Real Race cars is a brand new mag, set to hit the shelves on December 9th.
The main one I suspect you folks will be interested in is the feature on Seton's favourite race car, the GSR7 EL he won the '97 ATCC title with, and the interview with Seton too (especially if you missed them in sister title Street Fords early this year). There are also many other Fords (and a few more interviews) as well as icons and state-level achievers with various models from various eras.
We also have an FB group which anyone is welcome to join http://www.facebook.com/groups/realracecars/ and any feedback or constructive input is welcome (both here and in the group).
Daily driver and current 'CAMS Speed Event' car - silver EB1 5L sedan

There's a long and detailed write up on that GT-R (which is the notorious Gibson chassis #5).

Awesome. So many cars I want to suggest lol. 4 of them are on that cover, including the last real Holden to win Bathurst.
One thing I like about the Godzilla is it shows how impressive DJR were to be able to get anywhere near it.

No plans, but no objection either. To be honest, I wouldn't know where to start looking for them. With iconic circuit cars it's easy, just rock up to some historic events and talk to the owners (just like at car shows), but when and where do the notable AUSCARS or NASCARS come out of hiding?

I see no reason why we wouldn't ask the Bowdens to let us feature that EB at some point.

Isnt there an event on at Calder coming up for NASCAR/AUSCAR?

Most AUSCARS got turned into that Future Touring class didnt they? The one James Brock ran in?

TUFED6, which yellow one? The first 92 one with the gold mesh rims?

Thats the interesting part, there were a few of them. Apparently there were some prototypes that weren't allowed to race. One that did race was crashed really badly and never raced again (I think thats the one thats actually on display now). One of them was updated to an EF. I think i have a Street Machine or other car mag from the 90's that talks about the original one with the gold BBS rims, don't know if that one is still around but thats the one I like. The one with red wheels that won bathurst in 94 is the most successful one tho.

Yeah, the 92 red/yellow one was the one that didnt make it, they went with GSR's one instead.

the 93 #18 got stacked at the top of the mountain and got repaired by TAFE guys. Thats the one Bowden has, but its in the 94 winning colours.
The 94 winner got converted to EF and Bowe won the 95 series with it, but barrel rolled it at Phillip Island in 96

Big time respect to DJR for having the full history of DJR EB5 on their site. They looked so tough with the sharkfin front winglets and duct taped grille, pure E-Series spec :P
Also my favourite E-Series of all time.

I remember reading an article on DJR EB1, the one that got banned for having a tubbed front end, a 'Larry Bar', and many other things. CAMS claimed it was virtually a Sports Sedan, now every controversial feature of that car is commonplace in V8SC today.

Suggest away, and if you know where to find them, all the better.

Cheers :)
I guess you guys read Australian Muscle Car magazine? Some of their articles on factory racecars and anything Brock drove are insane, 40+ pages about every single little thing about the car, every race it had, interviews of everyone who worked on it, what happened to them, etc etc. I honestly don't know how anyone could beat their stories.

One car I'd like to read more about is Tony Edmondson's Alfa Sports Sedan, in all it's guises. Another is the Repco-Brabham BT24, or any F1 cars from the 60s through to the 80s. An easier group of cars to find would be Lola F5000 cars, there were a lot of them around.
Stories on Group A and C Touring cars would be cool too, especially the ones that get looked over, like the Walkinshaw Jaguars, the B&H BMWs, the Greens-Tuf Mustang, BMW 635 CSL, etc.

Another suggestion is to maybe do a short article on a particular section of one part of a car competing in top-level motorsport, to show the engineering and forces they go through? Things like the rear suspension setup or differential of a Doorslammer, the turbo setup from a big power 80s car, anything with big impressive numbers lol.

And if you're feeling adventurous, a massive write-up on the Mazda 787B.

The unfortunate thing is that I only know where a few of these cars are now, and you'd know where they are too.

The articles won't take you all week to read. That said, all the important achievements are shown, as are pics of each area of the cars, just like a Street Fords or Zoom article.

The Bowdens own some of your suggestions and they were impressed with the Street Fords article we did on their Greens-Tuf XE recently (also run in this new mag), plus they were happy with the Sierras write up too and we've covered their open days in Street Fords in the past, so there's a good relationship there.

There are events where we could hunt down historic open wheelers. For example, HSRCA have their Historic Summer event coming at Eastern Creek the weekend after next. Pics from the winter event start here; http://www.hsrca.com/gallery/nggallery/ ... reek-2011/

Tech articles, big and small, for both beginners and the advanced, are on the agenda ;)

And the 787B is awesome;

I don't think many of the paint schemes did them any justice. I've always liked the look of the BA test car however;

Who said E series never makes cover? ;)

The problem with ford mags is ford fans. If circulation goes up every time they put an XY on the cover what do you reckon they will want to run more of? :)

That's cause old guys with spare cash like to read about cars they grew up with, and have childhood memories of how awesome they were/are.

Younger guys would rather spend money on gofasts than magazines...well, that's what I do...

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

Yeah i agree.. i used to by sf all the time, gets a bit boring seeing an XY GT rep with 500hp on the cover and featured nearly every issue. (even though i absolutely love them), i can probably say the same about F6's and XR6t's which are being featured regularly.. You just have to buy a late model xr6t/f6, put some rims on it, lower it and send it off to a workshop for some go fast bits and you get a feature car!

I love fords but i guess the mags these days(not just sf) don't really appeal to me anymore. HOWEVER I think I will purchase this real race cars mag, it looks good!

my 2cents.

I bought the current issue for the C4C pics and write up, also for the fact that it says under EXCLUSIVES! "TURBO EF". Im still looking for the feature of a turbo EF?
