Issue with my AU

Postby Intercepted_AU » December 6th, 2011, 12:47 pm

What kind of exterior anti-theft technology does the AU have..the other night the horn activated by itself at 3am doing one continuous note with no lights flashing. The remote would not unlock the car at this point or stop the horn.

In a sleep deprived, flustered, cave dwelling approach I opened the door with the key and bashed the steering wheel to make the noise go away. Upon succesful bashing of the steering wheel it stopped and hasn't done it again since.
Now i'm paranoid and noticing things that may or may not have been there before..what looks like a screw driver nick on the key hole with my point being would attempting to **** the lock with a screw driver cause the horn to carry on in a 99 Futura..

THANKS!

The clock spring is probably on it's way out. It's basically a big spiral electrical connector behind the airbag, and is used as the contacts for the airbag, horn, and the steering wheel controls. They use this so there's always a connection, no matter which way the steering wheel is pointing.
