i personally would never put a ba motor into an au, when the cost involved would be around the same as buying a ba in the first place and then the car wont look like an aborted foetus with a ba motor

that being said, its a good conversion for e series guys because their cars are so much lighter

true, the e series with barra's is pretty cool. and yeah bentls, your right, my car + $3000 = Au with barra, or my car plus $3000 = buy an xt. lol

and yeah 200 is a bit, but i moreso look at it as passengers, basically sounds like if i put the ba motor in, and had 2 or 3 passengers, it would be as fast as it is now.. with the stocko.

Since we're using wikipedia
EL Sedan: 1,536–1,704 kg

take it with a grain of salt, these could be with/without fuel etc.

but wikipedia does say ~35kg was shaved from the EL to AU.
so if its worth going DOHC in an Eseries, its just as worthwhile in an AU.
especially given one of the 'difficulties' isnt an issue in AU.

**** wikipedia, asking on forums is more fun.... if everybody just searched the internet instead of posting half the threads would disappear.

intresting what EFFalcon just said though, and yes it would definately be easier in an AU.

some wreckers did a converion a while ago on AFF.

apparently there was some custom work with power steering hoses, and you have to frankenstein the ba air intake to the au body.

otherwise it all bolts together... even engine mounts.

only real trouble they had was getting the VCT working. and that itself, opened up a whole can of worms.

and yeah some car manufacturers weigh there cars without oil, coolant etc, let alone fuel. all that can add alot of weight.

in the end its not a world of difference still from the ba to the au

FTG Autosalvage did the BA Motor into AU in the earlier days, when using the factory BA ECU was deemed tricky.
locked cam gears, using the AU coil pack etc etc.
They never really went into detail about how well it ran.

Its not really much different to an eseries, other then the cross member being more friendly in an AU.

And it's statements like that that have made you look like a right dickhead in the past.

Everything you've said and asked for in this thread has been covered several times over many years, and is easily accessible with a basic search.

lol this is rediculous, if you see a thread about a question that has been asked before,

and you cant be bothered replying, then dont reply.

dont hate people who are too lazy to search.. everyone knows forum search engines are useless.

and as for wikipedia, sometimes they are wrong, too. and people who have been elbow deep in fords for years know the proper answers...

Forum search engines always work for me. Are you putting the words in the right box?

Who cares about weight saving. 350kw B series are fast. The same motor in an AU is at least just as fast.

I wonder where Ford saved weight in the AU as it's a fair bit bigger than the E-series. MY EF weight 1594kg according to the Facotry log book so I'm blown away that an AU can weigh as little as 1430kg or whatever it is. Does anyone know if they throw out these weights as dry weight? deescuss.

Yes Half the threads would never have been posted, BUT that half would the be shit useless ones and real info would be easier to find.

From redbook

2001 AU III Futura Wagon - 1600kg
2003 BA Futura Wagon - 1634kg

2001 AU III Futura Sedan - 1514kg
2003 BA Futura Sedan - 1644kg

I have no idea how the BA sedan weighs more than the BA wagon, while the AU sedan weighs less than the AU wagon...

I don't believe any of these figures :p
