Lol at article talking about some kind of magic suspension and that the BTR is going to be dropped. BTR was still being fitted to new cars till last year lol.

Looks like a cross between the EF and the last Telstar.

At least some of the info they went off was accrurate.

I like it. They should've made that instead of the EA series 5 that we ended up with.

The eventuating EF looks a lot more modern, but i actually think the above looks better.
although concept drawings always look better then the eventuating car due to wheel size and right height :P

Looks like they might have seen development mules for an EF and assumed that the styling changes would come into effect with the ED.

The general public would have been pretty disappointed with the ED after seeing images like that! Expecting big changes and the real thing gets a new grille, and that's about it!

Would be interesting to know the year of the article. The artist's impression is cohesive and modernised the EA shape nicely.

The security system was standard before the ED came out, and ABS was actually standard on all ED models except for the base (which gained it several years later with the AU series III). I think those are the only areas where reality actually exceeded expectations.

The 1991 KR Mitsubishi Verada Xi remains the only Australian-made car in history with 'magic' ECS suspension. Ride height and stiffness was controllable to some degree by buttons on the dash, or by the car itself in auto mode. The Xi was also the first with 4 wheel ABS (a costly option).

That would have been a better ED and shown a smoother transition from the EA shape to the EF shape.

Its definately got hints to EF in it. Although, wasnt the ED created due to EF taking too long to get ready?

i dont mind the rear end, actually looks pretty cool, but that front is just, oh god...

looks like some american fords, and as said above, similar to a telstar.

i love looking at old concept designs like this..

lamborghini released some artist's concepts ages ago before they released the gallardo, some of the designs looked like spaceship's...

Has anyone seen the wheels EA26 magazine from back when the EA was announced? I have a copy and can scan if anyone wants to take a look. Probably 50 pages on the development of the shape, suspension etc.

Post 'em in here. I've probably seen it all but all that shit is pretty interesting.

About 10 years ago I scanned and uploaded pictures of EAs on the production line, but the webspace it was uploaded to went down. If someone saved them, chuck them up too!

I have an old Wheels or Motor or similar mag from the early 90's, that shows a EA/B/D with an EF front on it.
I have a few mags from around that era. Even an EA with a 5.0 Mustang motor & 5 speed being tested.
