Falconed! Truck rolled and hit car.

Postby Nikk O'lass » January 29th, 2008, 4:20 pm

Well, what a way to start the day, went to work parked my car out the front, 5 min later i get called up to the office with some towtruck driver saying there is a little prob with my car. Turns out his handbreak doesn't work (or the dumass just forgot to use it) and the truck rolled into my car.

The boot is kicked across prolly 20-25mm, and because the car slid into a gutter, the diff as a broken panhard rod and watt linkage stuff, and the diff is across 18mm.

But there is a bit of lol to it. The truck was a rival panel beaters tilttray, and it happend out the front of the panel shop i work at.

Quoted $3600, but it will be cheaper if i do the work my self, thats just the quote im handing in to the other shop. It's a wierd situation, they should pay for the damage, but being a panel shop they might try to under quote, if im lucky, they'll hand me a check for atleast the parts and what not or an agreed amount. If i get between $2700-3600 check i'll be happy. It's there fault im with out a car, and possibly out of pocket if they don't pay out enough.

But if i get a check, i'll decide to repair or replace. Being my first car, i would love to keep it as im sorta attached to it :) and it red and has a 5-speed! But its also tempting to get an XR6-8 (prolly a box car still ;) ) or even a s13...i've saved up a bit of money ($2-3000)for a turbo kit so far, so i guess i can use that to help things along.

I think you'd be better off stripping the car of all the good bits and 5 spd, and going and finding a grandpa car for cheap. your car is fcuked.
