Quoted:

The Ford F-150 has just picked up a doppelganger in China. According to CarNewsChina, Jianghuai Auto Corporation has just unveiled its new 4R3 pickup, and sure enough, the vehicle looks to be a near carbon copy of America's best-selling truck. JAC reportedly wants to provide buyers in China, Africa and South America with a larger, inexpensive work vehicle. While the appearances of the Ford F-Series and 4R3 visuals differ ever so slightly, the similarities far outweigh the incongruities. According to CNC, JAC is a fairly small automaker in the People's Republic that specializes in rebodied Hyundai cars, SUVs and pickups.

Word has it the 4R3 will be powered by a 2.8-liter diesel four-cylinder engine generating just 108 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. There's no word on cost at this point. The JAC 4R3 is set to debut at the Beijing Motor Show in April, though there's no telling how long the vehicle will be on the market before the company gets a call from the lawyers in Dearborn. Head over to CarNewsChina.com for a better look at the F-150 twin.

Dunno why they say JAC is a small player, they sure do manufacture and sell a lot of cars over there.

true that! im a tattooist and everyday we get flooded with emails from chinese manufacturers trying to sell us knock of gear at a fraction of the cost of the original gear. the stuff they sell is fukken shit. it lasts a week at the most, if it works when it gets to your door.
thats why there is so many backyard hacks tattooing, because these o.s. manufacturers have made it so cheap and accessible....

The only thing that matters is the bottom line: is the thing profitable to sell?

If yes. the Chinese will make it. Maybe not well initially, but their skills and knowledge will improve to the point where they outclass the competition in price, quality and service.

The British Empire used to have massive bitch outs over the United States printing books they weren't licensed to print/ stealing ideas because they didn't operate under the same patent system in the 1800s. The Yanks are just getting the same treatment now (not that they've really been all that innovative for the last 30 years).

The Chinese version, the JAC 43R pickup, is made to look exactly like Ford’s perennial best-seller, and like most other things, they managed to get the look and feel part pretty close. There are knock-off manufacturers of all types of things made in all sorts of nations. For instance, China is known for producing knock-off car manufacturers like the recently debuted JAC pickup truck, which is a near carbon-copy of a Ford F150. JAC 4R3 pickup is latest in Chinese knock-off cars. And it was a big problem for the manufacturers as China made a clone which is cheaper.

For a hyundai yes, but hey why would f truck need anywhere near that sort of power expecially when 15 chinamen are included in the tub to get it up hills.
