so I am wanting to know. is there much fuel consumption difference between an ED XR6 and an ED XR8. Also is there any big advantages between EF XR6 vs ED or Ef XR8 vs ED?

Under heavy towing conditions, the Windsor uses less fuel. The rest of the time it's very much the other way around.

I expect the EF would be slightly better on the highway due to the reduced coefficient of drag, but not radically different. In fact, these numbers aren't much different on a brand new Falcon, or a 1960 model for that matter.

ED XR8 sedan: 11.0 auto / 11.0 manual

ahh ok surprised that the highway consumption is so high. Id have thought they'd have been really good on the highway....interesting. Thanks for the info.

9-11l per 100k is hardly high for an old car.
The V8's i've had normally used around 14-15L around town and 9-10 on the highway. Mine is currently using about 16 mixed driving/thrashing but it has a high stall and Turbo lol.

For comparison dads AU XR8 ute regularly gets 12-13 with mixed driving..

Old redbook and comparison test figures unfortunatly mean nothing to a near 20 year old car.
If both vehicles have had similar wear and tear, servicing and are in generally the same condition the 6cyl should use less.
So many variables tho.

Having owned both a 6cyl and 8cyl ED series I can vouch the 6 cyl was better about town.
The 8 was comparable on the Highway.
But like I said so many little things come into it. Even Tyres.

my XR6 wagon was getting 5-6 L/100km highest for highway, and 700kms to a tank on average.

I'm not real good at maths but 700klm/75ish litres does not equal 5-6.
