Hey Guys,

Do the ED Fairmont Ghia VIN/Chassis ID plate have Fairmont stamped or Falcon, as I am looking to buy one at the moment and wasn't sure.

Cheers,

Matt

Should be a letter in the vin number that resembles fairmont.

Right, cause it does say "FORD ED FALCON SEDAN"and the VIN has "JGSWPC" in it.

I don't think you can decipher the VIN to tell you if it's a Fairmont or Falcon the JG part means Australia/Broadmeadows PC part in your post above is just the month/year it was built in, i'm unsure of the SW part but I think it just means sedan?

I'm not 100% sure, but my old Fairmont said Falcon on the VIN plate so it's possible that they just wrote Falcon.

They still write Falcon on the build plate / comp plate as that's what they are all complied to Australian Standards as. I wrote a massive break down only to realise John's link covers it all.

And there's a typo in that Workshop manual lol - it says trans code "H" is a 5 speed auto column shift.
