Possible Insurance woes

Hi all, a couple of weeks ago i guttered the EF with the simmons on it too the point where one wheel is not repairable. I have a couple of concerns as to the actions of the Insurance company regarding replacement of the wheels, They have said like for like yet at the same time say that they will only be paying for 1 wheel. The simmons are an older type F90 17x8 17x9 staggered fitment and the assessor has been onto the local tyre shops to find a replacement wheel with no results
St the end of the day i had simmons on there so at the least they should be replaced with a 3 piece 5 spoke rim of good quality but ideally they should be replaced with simmons
I know it depends on the policy however i have an agreed value of $8800, Your thoughts on what the insurance company will do based on your past experiences would be greatly appreciated
Cheers, Matt

Matt, Get them to chase up a wheel repair mob like Depulu Wheels to see if they can obtain new inners/outers.

apparently they have xrayed the wheel and it needs a new outer. I believe they have been dealing with depulu
Aaron - one thing the assessor said is that it has to be like for like and the rears are 9's. There is not an off the shelf wheel available for eseries in a 9. They knew the wheels where on the car as they have repaired them once before. They cannot replace with a lessor, only with the same or better
It doesnt bother me if i dont get simmons, i just will not accept some shithouse mayhems or gay bling wheels as thats about all there is for eseries. Obviously they are trying to get out of this with the least amount of expenditure

Your lucky they even cover you for 9's anyway!!! No one does on eseries.

They SHOULD cover up to 9.5" on an eseries - since the biggest factory wheel on EA-D shape was 8.5" wide (EBGT) and biggest factory wheel fitted to EF-L shape also 8.5" wide (ELGT)

If its just the outer, that can be replaced. As long as the centre is ok. It'd be cheaper for them to replace that outer than buy a whole new set of different wheels

Doesn't work like that.... Has to be on THAT model. If the car isn't a gt it doesn't apply. The law/insurance argues that ford engineer the car to accommodate the wider wheels whether by suspension or brakes or even steering wheels.
Pretty sure it shouldnt of changed from when I dealt through insurance with my old car for similar issues.

With who?
Most places will cover you UNTIL you make a claim. Its like Shannon's and just car. They will cover anything! But when it comes time to claim its up to you to prove its roadworthy.

NRMA. I have made a claim with the wheels fitted too. No hassles at all.

I damaged a couple of my wheels a while back, they were no longer available at the time so i opted for them to pay me out for the value of the wheels " if they were available", i brought a new set of wheels and cost me very little.
They are still only obliged to cover the damage not give you 4 new wheels.

Was talking to the assessor today and apparently they have found a style available through goodyear tyres, a 5 spoke 3 piece wheel. Popping down tomorrow to have a look see..... fingers crossed there nice
Anyone know what a 17x9 F90 was worth back in the day. I will be asking for the wheels back and will look into getting a new outer made.

You won't get the wheels back that we're damaged if they replace them.

But a GT is a variant, not a model? An EB GT is an EB just as an EB GL/GLi is an EB.

How much for a set of ROH Modena? They're customised offsets etc arent they? Could they be an option?

An engineer that has to engineer a car would disagree.

Alls well that ends well managed to get a set of 19 x 8.5's and 19 x 10.5's out of the insurance company all i have to do is pay tyres which is fair enough. No replacement for simmons but at the end of the day i'll have some respectable treads on the old cooner

Exactly. Matt and I sussed out how you could easily fit 11" rears under stock guards.

An 11 is the biggest you'll get. Still an easy fit though it's just a case of gettin the right offset

Honestly don't know what they are called, sort of like a Volk TE37 copy me thinks, I was actually in the process of cleaning the simmons to sell them as they wont fit my big brake upgrade. The 19's will clear with ample room.
I'll throw some pics up when I get them fitted
