Any one done this before?

House is nearly finished

Before I move in Plan to coat the garage floor in some sort of dark grey or charcoal pain

So etching to prevent oil soaking in

Any ideas?

Researched it a bit lot of different views
Most people say 2 coats

I'd just get what ever concrete/paver paint, make sure its got the anti slip additive, or add some and goto town

When i painted my floor in my warehouse at work I went to Bristol paint center, Bunnings were crap they had no idea.
They gave me specific paint for concrete i had to thoroughly wash the floor down first with a product they gave me.
I did two coats of a light grey color worked great made it easier for moving around the furniture etc.
It took freaking ages too but if was a total of 1000m2 haha

Get a light grey to aid in lighting, and if you can afford it get an epoxy sealer, makes it easier to work on and clean.

Yeah its expensive. We are in the process of putting a new hoist in at home and went and seen about an oil resistant coating for the concrete. Epoxy sealer as above is the way to go. Stops fading and any soaking in of crap. Few hundred bucks though just to do the area around a hoist

I did mine recently, got some heavy duty stuff from bunnings. Cost about 180$ for 10 litres, almost used it all in my 6x6 shed. 2 coats.
Had to etch the floor beforehand with spirit of salts.
Turned out damn good, so much better to work on!

You have to wait a few weeks after pouring to paint it, I think I waited 4. The bloke at bunnings reckons wait 6-9 weeks, but I was impatient lol

Get the epoxy stuff. The cheaper stuff is terrible.

I got coloured concrete sealer and the problem is that it dissolves in petrol, so if you get any oil/petrol on it, it stains/lifts and as a result looks crap. Paint just flakes off over time and cant take weight like trolley jacks etc.

A mate has the epoxy stuff and while it took longer to lay and cost more, it is durable and doesn't look like crap a few years on.

I use to prep slabs befor they got painted at work,Making sure its clean is just as important as buying good quality paint. So dont just wash it down with water and slap some paint on ;)

We went to wattle. They had all the stuff in whatever colour. They cost different depending on light or dark base.
