Anyone in QLD recognise this turbo XG ute?

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone in qld knows of this XG ute. I've got my XH up for sale as I wanted a turbo import but this bloke just offered me this.

The bloke is being pretty vague about it. He said he was sucked in by its power but now he wants something simpler, he reckons he isn't into the whole turbo thing. He said it's on a run in tune and completely mod plated.

5 speed, some form of locker, etc. he said it needs gearknob because the shifter has been cut down, but that's all he knows as he has just bought it.

If anyone recognises this car please let me know about it as I don't want to jump into a heap of crap. Cheers :)

Take it for a drive and have a good look over it.. the whole "run in tune" thing screams bullshit to me every single time I hear it. Ask for dyno sheets and details, if he's only just bought it then he would still be in contact with the previous owner or have their number. Make sure you see and hear it start from dead cold and just check over all the basics, leaks knocks, noises etc

If you're not in Qld one of the guys down south might be able to have a good look at it. I'll be back down to Brisbane in a few weeks, where's the car?

Thanks for the advice mate. I'm in Brisbane, the car is on the goldy. Everything he's said sounds suss which is why I've put it up on here and fordmods to try and get some answers.

I asked him for the number of the previous owner and he said that he bought it from a guy in Bundaberg, who bought it off the builder. So, it's been built, sold twice and apparently never seen a proper tune, it sounds like BS to me.

The intake plenum also looks like it was made in a shed, lol. It looks like an eb manifold that's been hacked up.

Looks like it's got the basics there though? Couple of oil coolers in the front, big throttle body, decent size turbo... Obviously check it over big time as Ef_frmnt said, but if it's cheap enough it might be worth it just for the parts.

yeah looks like overall it's had some money spent, can always change to a nizpro type plenum if the aesthetics are a worry but depending on the volume and quality it might be a pretty good intake. as Dan said price is always the decider

The price is my N/A XH. It's lowered, has a 5 speed, locker, extractors, high flow cat, 2.75" catback, cam, tune, dyno sheet for 200rwhp and some rims and an HD clutch. That rings alarm bells for me, why would old mate want to do a swap?
