what car?
What model?
What is it I6 or V8?
Manual or Auto?
What valve sensor?
Is it chipped?
Standard?

Make it easier for people to reply if they Know more about it to start off with.

Cheers

Depends on what is going on as to why it might be holding too many revs.

If the throttle body was full of crap someone may have adjusted the base idle (via the set screw) to make it idle normally rather than too low.

If that's the case you'll need to back the set screw off slightly to get the car to idle normally with the idle control motor plugged in (there is a proper procedure for this, buy a gregories manual or google it).

If it's idling high because you've forgotten to put something on and now have a vacuum leak, put the thing back on so it idles normally.

The computer may also have 'learned' that the throttle body was full of crap and has been compensating, in which case it will probably settle down after a few days of driving, and the computer 'learns' that the throttle body is flowing plenty of air.

If it's an EA-ED and you have put the idle control motor on the the throttle body facing the wrong way it will idle high as well. Not sure if the same happens on EF-AU.

re clean the TB again, i cleaned it with some nulon foaming TB cleaner which i was told was good, after that the revs would hang for a while, few weeks later i cleaned it out again with the three bond stuff and it completely got rid of the problem. what did you use to clean it out and how did u clean it?
