well ppl hate me. today on display i believe someone has reached in to my ED and grabbed my key out. as at the end of the day when i went to move it there was no key in it.
anyways if anyone in vic has a ED locking mecho and key il pay decent. atm i cant steer the car due to the lock mecho to line it up for a flat bed or anything.

straight up!!! not a happy camper, i hope its fallen out of my pocket at some point then theres a chance the cleaners have picked it up.

Drop the column to turn the wheel. It's only 2 bolts in an ED from memory.

It's an easy way out to get it on to a flat bed, that's if the wheels are semi straight in the first place.

The only way to change that barrel now is to get that whole lock off, unless you smash it out in which case you'll damage the lock.

You need the original key turned to get just the barrel out, as you probably already know.

thats pritty much the plan atm.

il bring some tool tomorrow and hack at it.
also by lock mecho i do mean the hole unit not just getting a replacement barrel.
if i can get it home il be happy just they had a dyno there and the dudes running it were going to throw it on the rollers on sunday. il just have to miss out on that opportunity now no real biggy.

Sunny's got it (again). My EA ignition lock seized (the only time it ever broke down) and I had to smash the safety bolts out with a flat head and a hammer. It took probably 20mins. Without smartlock, I drove it home easily.

Sucks that some low lifes would nick a key though

Where was the car on display? Anywhere the kunt can come back and drive the car away?

Dunno if this helps but ..... If you talk to your ford dealer nicely with the vin they can give you the key code.
A key cutter / locksmith can cut the code onto a new key.

This key will start the car.

How do I know this ??? I lost a customer's key once and had to do it !!

That will work as long as the ignition hasnt been changed before

i assume that kind of thing wouldn't work with the standard car key design?
as in a dealer wouldn't have that kind of info on record

Yes misk it can be done as all keys are cut to code and registered to a vin

So you could copy a cars vin and get it coded for yourself and go back and steal the car or what?

id assume you'd need something to prove you own the car or something...

Not usually, if the cars that old they'll usually give it to you over the phone

In most cases you have to prove ownership or that you are in legal possesion of the vehicle ie: mechanic working on it.

Screwdriver bashed into the lock has worked for me a few times, I could start the car etc... (not to steal the car! Just cars i wrecked. lol)
