i had to go out today for a few hours (surgeons appointment) and had to leave the XR8 at home alone..... guarded only by my 65kg bipolar dobermann.... but still, i am certain i felt dead set separation anxiety hoping she'd be there when i got back!!!!
is it just me????
i cant be alone, anyone else feel justified getting a mate to check up on the car when they're away???

That's what insurance is for. I've left all of my cars at the train station during the day.

With my daily drivers I don't care, but I was hardcore paranoid about the EA as they didn't cover me for the whole amount I spent.

Got insurance on our cars but still get paranoid sometimes, especially when the lane got broken into in my own drive way not so long ago. And the night I happened to be out with the 55kg dog/horse!

My insurance won't cover what I've spent because I got the EL when it was so young, so steering lock and alarm with an immobiliser make me feel better.
Plus if I leave home without the car the keys come with me.

I always take the keys with me when I leave the house and the car is always locked and alarmed. Still paranoid though, but I just have to hope that I'll manage to get home while the **** are in the act so I can paint my front yard red with their blood.

I get chronic paranoia too.
Beast sleeps outside my window, has never spent a night on a kerb, I pay for undercover shopping centre parking to avoid street parking etc.
Sure, it is what insurance is for, but would any of us really be here reading this if we didnt love our beasts?

Yeah Melbourne seems to have the best in Australia, but the quality of the overseas kennels is pretty outstanding. I'd also like a pair with clipped ears, as Dobermans traditionally are, and it's illegal to perform the surgery over here.

I have one of those faulty BCM's that requires the area under the dash, left side of the steering wheel to be hit before the car will start...so i'm secure even when I leave the keys in it & some drop kick tries to flog it, ha

mattb347 - Your dog is bigger and weighs more than me!!!! That would be a scary dog to take on, plus I have been bitten by a dobermann, was not a great day. Great security

I worry about the cars, but more so about my bike, motorbikes and gear get stolen all the time. I would MURDER someone if they took either the cars or my bike.

Yeah I worry about my bike more than my car as well. Spent hundreds on locks, chains, alarms and shit and I'm still paranoid after having my first bike stolen only a few weeks ago.

I think its more time and effort put into the thing that cant be replaced, and being proud of what you have regardless of price and the biggest heartache when you see it vandalised or getting it knocked off.

Agreed value comprehensive insurance is the best thing ever invented!
And Shannons house insurance covers car parts and tools to 10 grand without proof. Win.

For sure. I had my DC LTD agreed from market value to 8-9k for only $80 extra a year. Well worth it.

i am that paranoid leaving any of my cars anywhere. And i guess it's worse when you modify your car to stand out. In Bendigo for some reason at home i don't get that paranoid, but in town i'm paranoid and in saying that my EB broke down one day at lunch so i left it on the side of the road in a suburban area. And it just happened to break down 2 doors up from a friend of my brothers. And when i come to pick it up at 5pm that same day she tells me a ratty group of guys in a VN drove passed it like 4 times, pulled over, looked around it, pulled on the door handle and then left. So i called a tow truck and got it towed home. Then not even 10 minutes after it's at home (about 7pm, middle of winter so it's dark) This chick friend rings my brother and tells him The same car come back, I believe with some form of tools to break into it. So after that the EB had a car alarm with a shock sensor so if it was even touched it went off flat out.
And if i'm in Melbourne i'm super paranoid, I'm forever seeing shared facebook post of someones clean, stand out car being pinched

Yeh its unfortunate you get the wanted and unwanted admirers having a half decent looking car.dont mind the wanted but cant stand the jelous pricks who think they can help themselves to do whatever they want or take whatever they need like its some free wreckers car,or some doosh bags who have got nothing better to do than to wreck someones car.Ive got no time for D heads like that, being a car enthusiast myself i always respect others vehicles regardless of price and that motto of "look admire but please do not touch" comes with my full respect.

I left the keys in the ignition with the window down in inala more then a few times trying to get it stolen hahaha, even did it over night. never worked though, seriously murphys law at its best.
I dont get paranoid about my cars being stolen, although I do get very paranoid if I have the roof of the jeep, and I have to go out of line of sight. but as long as nothing is in the car and anything valuable is locked in the centre console or glove box then it would be pretty obvious to bystanders if the locked compartments were being broken into.
