they should be dirty on both sides if that was the case.
the dirt must be coming from inside your door were there is usualy a build up of fine dust over time.
ive found the felt to be only good when it is raining etc to stop water, not so much fine dust.

could be wrong.....

Its not dirt thats the problem. I just wont open them when i first chamois the car cause i hate leaving a wet streak on the window when the rest of the car is perfect!
So yeah, i usually drive home or around until i think its dry enough to wind it down!

I usually dont put them down again for ages. i was out last night with mates and washed the car at 8:30. Didnt put them down till 11:30 to ensure i wouldn't get streaks.

Don't wind them down after you've washed it and park it in the sun for a few hours, works for me.

I use waterless now so I don't get that anymore. But when I used to use water, same as above: left in the heat for a few hours - no probs; left in the garage overnight, even until early afternoon - streaks.

Just put the window down and leave the chamois in the car. Then when you park the car for the day/night, just quickly wipe the window down. Take about 5 secs.

I'm exactly the same mate! I don't like opening my windows at anytime anyway...but...
As for you not liking touching your paint...use a microfibre cloth, not a chamois. It works real good
