Hey there im looking into buying a G6 or Preferably a G6E... does anyone own one that can tell me how good or how bad they are???

Prior to the Mk II, only the 'E' had curtain side airbags, a fact which would seal the deal alone.

Anything shit on BA-BF was pretty much fixed up by FG.. except the diff bushes. Also heard horror stories on cracked diff cradles too, do a Google search. Timing cases also prone to leaks due to bolts that bottom out in the block before tightening against the timing cover.

So that's why my timing case leaks!

FG's are awesome cars... I love mine its a good improvement on BA/BF.

So u could just trim the bolts down yeah?

I'd assume so, it wouldn't deter me from buying one if that's what your thinking too... the timing case on mine weeps some oil but its not the end of the world

Good car for the coin. Especially when an early FG G6E with 19's is going for under $20k.

me and snipez have had a couple customers with fgs and the timing chain tensioner leaks aswell. overall good car though

The timing case issue was fixed in the first few months of production. Shouldn't happen on a late '08 onwards FG.

Haven't seen a G6ET on 19's for less than 20! If there was one out there it'd have a shit tonne of KM on it. Cheapest I've seen was one that I was going to buy for $21.5 with 90km on it, but it was a bucket of shit, another cheapie was Parf's.

Yeah considering a turbo.. don't really wanna go over 25k but reckon i can get on for this price..

You can get a pretty good G6ET for $25k - with 19's. There's a few around at the $22k mark but you won't get 19's on it'll have over 100 on the clock.

Is there any major service at around 100k ?

Servicing is every 15 so there's one at 90 and one at 105. I think you should be budgeting around $600 a service if you want to get reamed by Ford (I've done it for the sake of warranty and maintaining the Ford log book).. If you're not extending the warranty or if it's already out (which it will be in your budget) - service materials won't be more than $150 for a major including coolant and all filters.

PS timing case issue still exists in '09 cars too, my bad. Just look for excessive oil "sweat" on the front of the case.

Easier to put a LSD in a open wheeler than a turbo in a n/a.

Really don't get fords logic with no LSD though 'here, have a car with tons of power and one wheel to put the power down....'

Get a xr6, 'here, have a car with bugger all power, you will be needing a LSD with that'

on what? a g6, g6e or g6e turbo? IMO, you are in the market to buy one of the best australian built car's to date, in a turbo fg. get on board.
