BA Falcon door lock actuator.

Postby sec » December 20th, 2012, 12:24 am

Hi guys so have any of your guys every had a god at disassembling a door lock actuator and fitting the recon kit, from what I gather its a plastic shaft with a cog and a small electric drive motor.

Looking at a photo it looks like yu just split the actuator and change the gear the only issue I see is if the little drive motor need the wire soldering to it.

Anyway what I am asking has anyone attempted this task and did they strike an issues.

A new Right front actuator from Ford is $219 a new one from eBay is $148 the recon kit from eBay is $50 so at $50 I am half willing giving that a go.

The new actuator on eBay is a genuine Ford part and according to the add its a upgraded version as in the BF Falcon and the supply the small wire harness to adapt it to the BA.

Maybe one of you guys may even know of a place to obtain one at a better price.

Well here hoping someone comes back with some info for me.

Ken.

You can just buy a new shaft for $20 or so off eBay. I've done about 3 now but the first one I ordered was shit quality and broke straight away. The subsequent 3 were all fine. There's no soldering if you're just replacing the shaft and there shouldn't be a reason to replace the motor unless it's dead (my car was at 270k kms and the motors were all fine).

Only issues I had was connecting all the rods up. It can sometimes be a touch hard to get the drivers door working properly with the button and key, but you just put the actuator back in test it before putting the door trim back on and after a few goes adjusting the rods it was all sweet.

Thanks for your reply.
I imagine that I shouldn't have to do any adjusting to the rods as I will be using the original unit shouldn't the adjustment remain as before??????

We do actuators on these things at work all the time, but $219 with the adapter loom is deer as!, probably because of your location too. I can do them for $138.65 with loom for Boosted Members. Just postage would be an issue :/

Sorry mate, I meant that when putting it back into the door it took a few goes to get the rods in the right way. Sometimes you get it spot on first go but other times it takes a second go of just moving where they sit on the actuator slightly to get a smooth movement. I used my existing actuator as well but still had an extra 5 mins or so just making sure it was working right with the door trim and not getting caught.
