EA CFI fuelling issues

Ok so it may be in the wrong place but im not sure, so i bought a 1989 Ford EA CFI 3 speed auto, got it home and it ran like a dog. pulled the plugs out and they were black as black. replaced them for good measure, still ran horrible, had spark but was weak on 1 and 2, pulled the dizzy cap off and that was shagged!! i mean no carbon drop down point to contact the rotor button!! so replaced that and it still runs horrible!!

So the issues are black smoke out exhaust to the point its almost spitting carbon out the back!! so i have checked the injectors and now it wont even start, just locks up on the starter motor. my thoughts are the injectors are shagged and just pumpin fuel in uncontrollably but i am not too familiar with this setup so im puttin it to you guys who might know more than me

cheers!!

Its also real hard to start though, i have heard the injectors can leak on these thingss too? I have tried the map sensor, got another vehicle and the map sensor i pulled off it runs fine on it

by the sounds of it, the car hasn't been maintained. So in saying that it has probably been a long time since the fuel filter was changed. And if dirt/debris particles have gotten through the filter and into the injectors, they could be stuck open. Maybe pull them out and get them professionally cleaned and tested. See how you go

Haha yeah i dont think it has been maintained very well, seems that one of the injectors is leaking externally but i am starting to wonder if voltage may be an issue as well. It has drained a good battery pretty quick so when i can get another battery i will test the charge rate and see if its around the 14v

you just named you problem. injector leaking. It'll be flooding the engine with fuel. get the injectors fixed first of all
