Identification of Garrett Turbo

Postby ForgedBAxr6t » August 12th, 2013, 9:40 pm

Good day/evening. I need help identifying a turbo which is currently running on my BA xr6t.

As ive had my xr6t engine rebuilt, I have been very supicious on what turbocharger I have. "Its an upgraded Turbo charger" they said. But it would have been very informative if they stated what type of Garret they replaced it with. (I hope I wasnt fooled and they replaced it with the stock turbo)

Info: Where is visable... Garrett AR/50. M12 <WL> 5

Behind this there is a small red plate that reads GCG.

Any help will be very much appreciated in identifying this turbocharger.

Regards Damo :)

There will be a plate on the core. The bit in the middle of the 2 housings.

The stock turbo has a .50 front cover and says M12 on it but the insides might be different.

can you pull the housings off to measure the wheels?
that will be the only way of knowing whats inside.
