Factory V8 EA?

Right now some may have seen a page on FB asking questions about a EA that is claimed to be a factory EA V8 Fairmont Ghia...

They have the paperwork from for stating that it is a Dec 90 build EB falcon, yet it has a V8 and EA panels. The Build date it's self is suss, with EB not released until July 91...

Early pre production build?

I wouldn't imagine so, but if it was it would all be on the compliance plate.. EB falcon, engine code would be Z, trans W

Got a link?

Seems funny tho, need pics

The confirmation letter is easily faked. Would have to see the car to check the authenticity. Indigo Blue is an EA colour, Dec 90 is obviously an EA. Code Z I'm not sure of, but also easily checked.

When I worked in Ford CRC, it was the dead-shits who had the job of writing these letters.

Code Z is definitely V8, checked my car =)
Scott hart (Karl's mate) had an '87 EA wagon so the car is definitely possible to exist, would be interesting to check it out if it was legit

So really, its an EB that someone has put EA panels on...unless a it was a special build for a Ford executive who requested EA panels, on a early build or preproduction car.

Noticed too on the photo of the car, you can see a indicator on the guard...

There was a limited run of EA V8's. They were done to allow Ford to continue competing in the V8SC competition...From what I understand there was only 1000, some were NA/DA others were Fairmont's or Ghia's. I know someone who had an NA V8 Fairlane, don't remember too much else about the car though. Someone else may have more info than I do.

EA Ghia's were the last to be optioned as factory manuals that I am aware of. Never heard of a V8 one though. Would need the VIN off the car to confirm, or at least a pic of the build plate/s

You're wrong on that one DJ. Ford had fox mustangs then sierras when there were no V8's. the first V8SC was the EB

Back then it was the EB SS, and they were still six cyl. It was for Group E, the VN commodore also had a SS but V6. both were claimed to be production cars but you just weren't available to buy one.

And the letter can be false from Ford.
I got a verification letter a while back from HSV for my VN Group A and the letter claimed i had the 200KW v8, when in fact they had the 210 or 215 KW v8 from factory, so sometimes even them get it wrong.

There were also manual EB1 Ghia's available in 6 and 8. So wrong on another count.

I know of many '87 EA's.

I'm guessing it's a mule that was able to be let out and sold in to the public domain. There are a few that have been like that.

I saw this one of FB myself..

Very suss as the information in the letter cant be verified.. Ie, Piecing the VIN together to make 6FPAAA JG32LG 90881 and run that through ETIS, and nothing..

Even searching its old vic rego "NMB113" in vic rego DB gets nothing..

One guys claims to have seen it in the flesh and the information is correct and is stamped 'EA' on the VIN plates..

Cheers,
Nik

Yep, I test drove a 91 V8 Ghia 5spd... did want... couldn't afford lol. Dealer was dreaming.
And I thought 87 EAs were relatively common too, a lot of parts are advertised 87-94 for box cars.

Official release was 88, and there are plenty of 88 XF's around.
