3 Speed auto missing gear every time I turn left?

I've got an NA Fairlane, and basically as the title says... Every time I turn left it misses, revs it's ass off and then snatches whatever gear it was trying to change to.
Any suggestions as to what this May be? I'm stumped..

Yer starving for fluid somehow. Either low fluid or a gallery is partially blocked.

I'm with apoc on this one, sounds like a lack of fluid to me. Do a quick service on it to check condition of it, don't know how easy/hard it would be to put a 4 speed in it?
