hi im ben and im new to this. iv just brought a new project car its a 94 ED 5lt v8. so I went and had a look at the car. looked for oil leaks and under oil cap for milky oil. then took it for a test drive it drove grate and idled grate to. so I got the guy to right me up a recept and brought the car for 1000 bucks wich is cheap for an ed v8. so on the way home from hamptom park to Rowville. the car started to over heat right up to the red. and when I got it home and poped the hood the water was boiling I opened the cap and water was brown and no coolent. im still on my p.s and iv only ever owned the ford 6 I no nothing about the ford v8.so can sum one tell me if thay thinks its the head or could it just be bad radiator or water pump thermo state or sumthing. the car does blow a little bit of black smoke but its not much at all.

thermostat, radiator cap would be first things to check. Then start checking through everything else like water pump, radiator etc

First thing to check is see if the fan is blowing hot or cool air.

If it's cool air: there is a circulation problem.. Thermostat stuck shut, no fins left on waterpump, radiator cap not pressurising or blocked radiator.

If it's blowing hot air then it's the motor- do a c02 test (ask mechanic)

Simple ways to check things is remove the thermostat and take both radiator hoses off and put the hose in the motor, see if it pumps water, do the same for the radiator.
