isn't the EA-ED based on the FoxBody mustangs which are convertibles ?
just quickly chop the roof off just to give you an idea of what it would look like. can re-attach it later

Aha well I'm gna do some research and see what I come up with. Should be able to cut and weld everything, but rego-ing wil be the main concern. I reckon she'd look alright, especially in the Slate colour. This would be an e-series first?

fark someone beaten me to it... well at least it doesn't have the ea-ed shell.
does anyone know the legalities of altering the body's construction? Because i turboing is basically impossible in NSW due to emmissions rules (extractors are technically illegal since they alter the emmissions, but who's gonna stop them.. a turbo would be too suss though), thought maybe I chop her up.
Will be a few problems though if I was only cutting.. where bonnet meets windscreen and window edge of door wouldn't line up without some serious fabrication, same with cutting out the top of the doors around the window glass... interesting thinking though.

The roof of any E series is structurly important to the chassis, if you remove the roof the chassis will warp.
I've seen it done on an XD falcon in Tasmania, but i reckon reinforcing the chassis would be essential.

You will need to pay a metric shitload of cash to have a certified vehicle modification shop alter all that. It's just not something that you could do DIY and then take it to be inspected.

Sony Scorcher

There's another one as well I believe, but not done by Street Machine.

Autotek did a red EA convertible back when these things were new. From memory it looked quite good.
As for actually doing it, it's not really the sorta thing you could hack away at and then expect it to be legal. Unless you have a realistic idea of the bucks and engineering required, I'd be rethinking!
If you're just curious to see what it looks like, buy a $100 EA (there's lots around!), hack away, and then get a wrecker to pick it up once you're done.

i reckon it looks shit cause of the colour, wheels, bodykit. the 2 door looks ok. would probably look heaps better with a DECENT paint job.
orange just doesnt work with ea-ed

Bare in mind that this car was built quite a while before the modern e-series fashions were around.

Agreed! I was probably a little harsh in my sentiments, and while it did look like a quality car, in my opinion none of it worked - including the 2 door conversion.

I reckon Scorcher is mint in theory. To look good these days it needs bigger rims, side skirts and slammage.
The one that was in StreetFords is the sister car to Scorcher. Both were built pretty shonky but still love it. V8 2door EA, whats not to love?
