BA XR6 Turbo ute into BA Wagon running gear swap

Hi Guys,

Wondering if anyones got any info on if swapping running gear between a ute and a wagon is easily achievable, as far as i know the wagon and the ute run the same chassis so im wondering if everything will swap over with relative ease, from engine, gearbox, tailshaft, diff even suspension as the wagons also run leaf springs?

am i right in thinking this or did ford change things between the ute and wagon?

reason im asking is i have a ba turbo ute with a bit of work done and alot of money invested so figured if i could buy a standard wagon and do a swap of the running gear i could sell the ute as a stocky and keep all the good bits and have a nice turbo wagon

Cheers Guys Adam

Yep pretty easy swap if your mechanically minded only thing what is different is the tailshaft length. You can use the standard wagon one or get the ute one shortened

Are the utes on a sedan wheelbase? I thought they were wagon length?

What box is in your ute?

You don't want a 6 speed manual conversion do you? :D

The utes are longer again cause the tailshaft is to long you have to get it shortened.

Just depends on how you want to do it. You can get the ecu paired with the rest of your car or you can use your standard ecu and just flash it with a turbo tune. Just depends on which way you want to go really

We just did the conversion with a sedan.
Exhausts arent the same from ute/wagon so we got a custom one done.
Car will need to go to ford to have some parameters changed

Do you have a thread on the auto wagon? I'm pretty keen to get a wagon once Gloria is finished...

Nah haven't really done anything on it. All the gear is out of my wagon I wanted to put a manual in mine and a complete F6 ute came up for sale cheap so I just put the complete running gear in my wagon and chucked all my old gear in this wagon just so I can get a bit of coin back on the F6 gear.
