Hi all do mini spools do much if anything for take off?

ha what do you mean? both wheels are always joined with a mini spool

I'm looking for more speed on take off.

yes if your spinning singles on take off

yeah you can put the power down better with a spool compared to an open centre diff and in most cases Lsd's too.

2 wheels turning is usually better than 1

Going by your username you have a xr6, more than likely has its factory lsd if not thrashed it probably works fine.
So you won't gain anything by locking the diff.
If you want more take off lower the ratio.
