Hey!

I went down to jolleys pick apart on the weekend to buy some parts i need some bonnet struts for the roady! So i thought i'd get them while buying other parts!

So i was under the hood of this El falcon getting a indicator the bonnet was held up by the struts so clearly they worked fine. I pulled them off an brought them, I later went on to installing them on mine....But, I found out that they don't work? The bonnet slowly goes down, Does this mean the Ghia has a heavier bonnet? or did i just get ripped off?

Thanks i know this is weird question but i had to ask, cause i paid 28! bucks for the damn things and i can't get refunded...Sadly but oh well you live and learn

Thanks!

well fairmont bonnets do have a bit more on the front compared to the standard falcon, plus cause the extra weight is on the furthest point it will seem even heavier so to answer your question... probably

Always better off buying new when it comes to the bonnet/boot struts. Especially considering how cheap they are.

Did you put them on the same way up as they came off? If yes then unlucky :/

There are different length struts too, when you get new ones make sure they're the same length as the old ones or a little longer.

Yep! i put them on how they came off. I even checked with my other car to check (Jeep) same way as mine...Yeah thanks i will measure the lengths of them both standing side by side. I didn't realize that they had different ones! Thanks for letting me know. Brought some new ones for the nugget. cheers!

I was told by a friend to use BF wagon tailgate struts on the bonnet, it lifts the bonnet a little bit higher and they hold more weight
