Help with ea??? what is it??

when driving my fairmont usualy goes like a dream (put ur foot down and cry.) but occasionaly the car feels as though its surging and oil pressure and revs drop up and down randomly.. it looses power when doing this. temp is normal and all oil and everything is fine. Does anyone know what it is? could it be that i need new leads or spark plugs?
