Ford 5.0L Issues

Postby SKD347 » January 3rd, 2015, 8:11 pm

Hey guys, I've put a 5.0l in my xf falcon. I used a NF fairlane as the donor car.
It was obviously a auto with smart lock so I've got a T.I performance j3 chip with a manual bin and smart lock turned off. The engine I now in and runs but there is a few issues.
The main issue is that the thing wont rev over about 3500 to 3800 rpm.
sounds like a rev limmeter, It don't matter if you hold your foot flat to the floor in neutral the thin wont rev.
I've put a light on it and at this rev point the timing drops back to near TDC.
I've now tried every single V8 bin that is available on the T.I Web site and it's all the same.
I've tried 4 Different MAF sensors, Some make it idle and throttle response better but the rev limit style issue is still there on all of them.
I've also tried 4 different ECU's EL and EF and still the same thing.
I'm a bit stumped at this stage has any one got any ideas?.

Is there a neutral rpm limit in the bin.
The ecu may think it's in neutral.

Got it sorted.
I had the Crank wire to the TFI module hooked to ignition power. So the TFI module was in crank mode all the time. So I disconnected the pink crank wire to the TFI and now it revs perfect.
Thanks to Jason from T.I Performance for the help.

Nar, don't need it mate. Has a j3 chip to change it to a manual ecu.

maybe it is an issue with the chip? have you tried running it without the J3 in?

The chip is fine. He posted the solution above, TFI wiring.

Cheers,

Yer, As I said guys, It was the pink wire to the TFI module had power with ignition not just when cranking. Wired it up properly and she runs mint.
The J3 chip work a treat.
