Clutch Shuddering Falcon XR6 EF

Postby Rick84 EF XR6 SA » March 23rd, 2015, 11:37 pm

Good day Peeps

I was wondering is a clutch suppose to shudder for a few kilometers when you replaced the clutch kit.
It has been shuddering since I replaced the clutch I thought it might be because everything is new but I have been driving it for a while now and it's still shuddering when I'm going slow for example in parking lots etc.
When I'm driving it doesn't happen.
Its just when I'm taking off.
Its almost seems if I take off quickly it doesn't happen.
It's only when I'm idling through traffic or parking lots.\
Any advise will be appreciated.

Sounds like you didn't have the Flywheel faced before fitting your new clutch kit.

Either, didn't machine the flywheel like previously said... or...

Did you clean the surface of the pressure plate, where the clutch plate runs. Generally the clutch manufacturers coat it with poo so that it doesn't rust. You need either brake clean, or a really good quality paint thinners to get it off. The surface must be perfectly clean, with no residue.

Did you put grease on the input shaft?? If so, that's also a big no no.. The grease when hot, liquifies, and sprays over the clutch plate, which can cause it to shudder and slip. We don't grease our brake pads, so why a clutch plate.

If the clutch plate was bent when installing, it can also cause a shudder, or sometimes if the pressure plate wasn't done up evenly it can distort the diaphragm.
