VIC Friday night cruise aftermath

Postby oneredED » April 5th, 2008, 1:28 am

Well I'll start off by saying thanks to whoever organized tonight's cruise, was a very good turnout! Sorry to crash the cruise in my curb-hopping daily, it was a little out of place and far too slow, but I had a good cruise.

Maps were good (apart form the megamart/chadstone confusion), and less people got lost than usual :)

Cops at the 3rd meet-point were good blokes, even the highway patrol guys. They were happy to leave us alone if we moved off the private property we'd inadvertently parked on. A special mention must go to the bloke who started yelling at the cops who were leaving "fucken pigs pigs oink oink oink" from his car... followed by a "ha what are they gonna do???" Well needless to say the cops reversed back up and blocked him in, and from what I could see they were gonna go over his car with a fine toothed comb. Nice one mate, really good move I must say, hope it made you feel good

Some very nice cars there, but DCSTR8 is fricken awesome, top car dude. Sounds ace too. Nice to meet those who I did as well, I've forgotten most names though haha.

Oh, and the KFC at warrigal/princes is the SHITTEST ever. Just thought I'd add that in.

LOL, aaaaah that makes sense.
I was wondering why the **** they picked that car.

Yeah was a good night, a hell of alot of police out and about, even heading west where you normally don't get as many as eastside.
DCSTR8 is nice, sounds a bit weird for a V8 though. What work have you got done to it steve, is it a stroker or still 302? :P

Was good to have a chat with a few people, have a few drinks while jeeves drove me around, then when I got bored I took over.

I know, I'm just messing with Steve :P
It's got an 8 in the plate and two mufflers underneath it, its a running joke that his car is actually a V8 in disguise.

awesome night out guys
Thanks to Dave for organising everytthing, deffinatelly a decent effort for someone who doens't know melb overly well!

turnout was far beyond what i expected and there were so many people i didnt know.
hopefully we do do it more often!

Police were fantastic to deal with.
a big thanks to them for their honesty.

although it was interesting being tailed by an under cover car from mentone to pier 35... they deffinately wanted to keep an eye on us :P

Thanks Jared, John, Simon, et al ;)

Thanks to all who attended, the turnout was much better than expected and despite the inconsistencies between the map detail and the written directions, most people managed to make it to the final meet point! It definitely felt like an oldschool E-Series cruise from around 2006...

Those cops have probably been the best I've ever come across, they could've royally fucked us over if they wanted to...

Does anyone want to organise/take over for the next cruise? If not I'd be happy to try & arrange another cruise, I'll just need to have some "locals" check out some potential meet points so that we don't have another 3rd meet point thing happen :P Or have everybody miss St Kilda Pier (including myself)...

Well, maybe a daytime hills cruise out to Gembrook, spend a few hours laser-striking (I'm really pushing this point lol), then finishing up with a night time touge-spec "cruise" back towards the city/eastern suburbs? (finishing at say Anaconda?) :P

I'll throw up an EOI thread shortly...

Oh, here's a panoramic I hacked up in Paint of the carpark (minus the commodores and maybe one or two e-series to the far left). The driveway & road angle may look farked but I tried to match the picture in with the cars (White EL behind the pole & YBYAVL in the dark)

Nah, seriously, if you know the roads, just let me know the names/vague locations of suitable meet points, etc. I'd be more than happy to make up the maps again, and set a date & time, etc etc. I just need someone who actually knows the roads to be able to say "take this road to that road", so that I don't make any more fvck ups such as forcing illegal right turns, or stating stopping at one pier & ending up at another...

Oh, I forgot, BIG THANKS to Beth for printing out the maps for everybody!

thanks to beth for printing out the maps, and thanks everyone who organised it and made it happen. apart from some cops and some dubious driving was a good night.. ive still got pinging so more room for improvements...! :P

however, the most exciting/shocking thing was after on the way home when my housemate rang me asking for a lift....

this was the end result:

Thanks for having a think about a cruise route, that sounds great mate :D

I'll muck around with the maps, & maybe do one map per page (landscape) so that they're easier to read? Maybe edit out the exact route from your post (I've got your copy in PM still) so that nobody unwanted can read it (full details to be provided on the maps)

Maybe someone from the area can find a decent meet point on the Burwood heading back into the city before Lysterfield Road (so I spose a public carpark on the south side, not too stand-out-ish) and PM me with the details?

If you're heading towards Glenfern rd along burwood hwy, you will go past Widetread tyres, Autobarn, Frawley signs then a big shell servo. there is a carpark next to that for a group of shops (a mower shop camping shop kids play centre etc) big enough to hold about 50 cars and nothing will be open to disturb.

I definately enjoyed coming down for the cruise Friday night. I was driving the "trash can EB".
Thanks to Dave and Beth for their efforts and anyone else who contributed. It was good to put a face to the avatar and everyone was real friendly and welcoming.
Many cars looked tops. Mentions from me go to MEANED for that ridiculous sounding engine (pretty sure its an 8?)
PHATEL for its cleanliness and BLKPHN for that massive flutter after doing a U-turn near Warrigal/Waverley rds (to head to Officeworks car park). Lots of fun, shame I couldn't have stayed longer and I look forward to the next one!

Cheers :D always good to get some good feedback on the car :D Yeah, MeanED is definately an 8, fucken tough as nails, my car was shaking whlie it was next to me, haha!!
As said in the other thread, thanks to Dave for organising it, im happy to put my hand up to help out with cruises etc.

Skids at Pier35 when leaving were good to watch, not so good watching a car pointing at urs though *cough*YBYAVL*cough* im sure you had it under control, just not keen on a car cutting hoops THAT close to people/cars!

I couldn't help but notice you leave when the divvy van rocked up lol :P

Your car sounds tough as man, last time I had a chat with you (2006 on an E-Series cruise) it was a lowly 5.0 :P

I'd get on top of that if I were you  You don't want it thumping between 4th & 2nd at 100kph!

$50ish for the part 2nd hand, $120ish new. Takes 10 mins to swap, just be careful not to push the tab it sits on into the box or you'll be in doo doo.
