My XR8 got impounded on Friday night, and now in complete bullshit, i cant pick it up until a "mechanical" has been done by the cops, so im gunna get my car back after 5-6 days on a 48hr impound covered with defects, what should i do?

You need some legal advise my friend, don't cheap out. It's already going to cost you for the impound fees.

Your car is largely stock isn't it? I mean nothing that is illegally modified and such? What's the worst they could have a go at you about? A busted bush or something...

Taxi + keep receipts? If you win in court, get the cops to cover all your costs :D

I've never heard of a "mechanical" checkup... Seems like they want to make an example out of you for no good reason. Got a copy of the QLD road rules with regards to what this "mechanical" checkup is?

That farken sucks man, some cops need to pull their head out of their ass. They may be just trying to make you sweat a little and as been said make a bit of an example out of you.

As has been said the car is nearly stock anyway so you shouldn't have alot to worry about but if you need an airbox to replace the pod to pass or whatever let me know and i'll hook ya up with one.

Ring a fecking lawyer FFS! Clearly this shit just got serious, so instead of asking people on teh innernetz what they think, go ask someone that knows the bloody law!

Look in the yellow pages, there are a lot of lawyers that specialise in this type of thing. I think a consultation is only like $80 and you will at least get an idea of how hard you are going to get fisted, or if you can stick it to the man big time.

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

Geez, and i thought QLD wasnt too bad on modified cars and crusing around.
After blocking off the BWCP and now stories like this, VIC doesn't sound bad to me now!

Good luck anyway. Hope it gets out in the next few days, and its all good!

Slater & Gordon are a Melbourne based firm.
I'd think the average E-Series owner may just struggle to procure their services.
They'll happily work for you on a no win - no pay policy, as long as the case is high profile enough.

I'll bet they're hoping you don't document/keep record of all the events that have gone down so that by May 12 you've forgotten a lot of what's happened. Then "hey presto!", you've got a heap of trumped up crap attached to your fine.

Since there were two impoundments (OED666 and 67rce) in one week and OED's thread has gone way off topic because of it I thought I would get you all to continue the discussion in this thread.

Does anyone know the details of the rumored new laws that may have come in to effect in our carefree little corner of the country? Does anyone have any inside info or some links to any info that they can share?
